This seems to be a very common interview question. How should we approach it if we think we've covered everything on the app?

You can talk about personality traits. This also works for the “What is your weakness?” question. You can talk about being very detail oriented (which can be good and bad). You could talk about being optimistic–or pessimistic. If you have something that you love–like reading–you can talk about that and how it influences you.

I used it to give a little info on my difficult childhood/finances, but then lightened the question with an amusing part of my personality.

This is one of those free-form questions like “tell me about yourself”. You can get some ideas from reading job interview books about how to handle questions like this; the open-ended form is really about the same. What I’d suggest is think of some strength you’d like to highlight that doesn’t really come across in the app because there was no place to fully mention it or because aspects of it were split over different sections. It can also be a place to mention challenges you’ve overcome that might not have been fully fleshed out on the app.
