At one point, my HS was a blue ribbon school… but they tend to forget that they no longer are and now suck.

the guy who created ebay went to my school…i guess thats kind of cool haha

One of the teachers at mine taught Lee Dewyze but he didn’t go to our school

@Lauren229 Yeah, my school was to up until the last few years. We hit hard times after our first hurricane since the 50s in 2005 and a second in 2008 didn’t help.

With that said, a new administration took over at the high school my freshman year and we’ve made up a lot of lost ground since then.

Our marching band is awesome. A few notable alumni. That’s about it, the rest is pretty average.

our school has aspects of it that are considered legendary by others in the region. though revealing those aspects will lead me to reveal what my school is.

but the campus is terrible. i’d trade in this place for boathouse exeter any day.

My school is kind of lame, but we’ve had a lot of cool things happen. It’s working class/lower middle class. Derek Jeter graduated from my high school. Our basketball team is number 1 in the state, and out mock trial team is number 2.

Also, President Obama was the commencement speaker for the 2010 graduating class.

Other than that, my school is pretty boring. :)

Well Jadaveon Clowney goes to one of our rival schools, I actually saw him at the track meet Saturday. But that really has nothing to do with us…
Umm, our sports, except football, are pretty good. We’ve had quite a few state champions and tournament winners in the 4 years we’ve been open. Our band has been 1 or 2 in the state 3 of those years, and they were 7th at Nationals, and they’re marching at Macy’s. We were one of 30 districts commended by the SAT for something to do with the AP’s. We’re quite proud of what we’ve a accomplished in just 4 years :).

Oh, and we’re one of the top schools in the state

My H.S. I will attend in September (currently in 8th grade) is a “specialized” school with a strong emphasis on engineering and math. It’s consistently ranking in the top 40 schools in the nation, sending many kids to Ivy League, prestigious schools, honor programs, etc…

Lots of student art work.
Strong emphasis on the arts, especially in grades 9 and 10.
It’s really small and personable. I loved it.

My high school has the third oldest football rivalry in the nation…and football players are allowed to go in the girls bathroom…but I can’t bring a drink for breakfast go figure…

I have AP Bio with the kid who won Siemens, placed as an Intel STS top 10 finalist, and is out in Cali right now for ISEF if that counts for anything. Best part? We’re a public school.

Mine is a public school as well. One of our students is up for an award from Google, another won recognition from a national English teachers association, one placed first in the state in Ready Writing and another placed fifth in Calculator Applications. We typically have several students placing for awards in chemistry competitions, and our academic team has taken the district championship for eleven years running.

Our band has attended the state marching competition seven times in the last thirty years (a band is only elligible every other year in Texas) and has just barely missed it several times; there was also a year where they took first at state. Nearly all of our sports teams make deep playoff runs year in and year out (basketball falls behind, for some reason), we’re known for fan support (our football stadium holds 16,000 and is always filled for games, no matter what), and the school has earned a spot in the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum.

The coolest thing, though, is that the Chief of the Cherokee Tribe presented our school with the seal of the Cherokee Nation (our team name is the Indians, fight song is called “Cherokee,” etc.) in 1980. He and their tribal council were so impressed with the school that they passed a resolution giving us specific permission to use our mascot (which normally hangs in the principal’s office but is on loan to the museum), the Indian Spirit.

My school is special because I go there!

^haha lol.

Well…we end at 3:15 and go for 200 days…yay…

The longest running Christine in Phantom of the Opera on Broadway went to my school! It’s super exciting because she is coming back next week to give a workshop and sing in our concert! :D

We also have a pretty amazing Quiz Bowl team. I’m not really sure about sports… lol :)

Well, our rival high school (within our district, anyway) graduated a baseball player who is now a really famous MLB player. He has hit in the Home Run Derby and everything.

Again, that’s our rival high school, not ours.

@yoursky, Exeter is amazing!

Also, my mother dated Brad Pitt’s pledge father in college. :D

That has nothing to do with my high school, but I thought I’d share.

My school is the best in the city, best in Hampton Roads, and 8th best in Virginia. We also have the best average SAT scores in Hampton Roads.
We’re the oldest school in the city and still have the asbestos in the walls to prove it.
The #1 Women’s Basketball Recruit for the Class of 2011 attends my school and is going to Duke next year. She also played on the McDonald’s All-American Team and was MVP. She was also on the USA U19 and U17 World Championship Team.
We’re an IB School, and an awesome one at that.
My biology teacher is a doctor.
Numerous alumni comes back as teachers at our school. There is a mother-daughter-son teacher trio here. The father unfortunately teaches at another school.
Our Student Government Executive Council has over 70 active members, the largest in the city.
Our valedictorian is a UVa Jefferson Scholar and was accepted into Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Georgetown, but accepted admission to UVa. She’s also a Coca-Cola Scholar and a member of USSYP.
Our school has the best and the largest Leadership Workshop, with 180 delegates and over 35 returning alumni.
Alumni include Virginia Senator Frank Wagner, Pharrell, and Steelers player Cedric Humes.
Last year we had two kids go to Harvard and one to MIT.
Last year we also had the Virginia Forensic Duo Interpret State Champions and the Classic State Debate Champions.

We just produce excellence.
