Only 3 ivy league students?^
My school can top that, over 5% every year gets into ivy league or elite schools like stanford/mit. Not trying to brag or anything, just stating a fact.

@raychillee: Not to one-up you or anything, but I go to the fifth-best highschool in Virginia. Out of curiosity, how many people generally get into UVA and W&M from your school every year?

Yeah, we send off our share to the Ivy League and schools of similar stature as well. One of our graduates from a few years ago is in MIT’s grad school, we have contingents at Stanford, Rice, and Duke, and we always get kids with offers to Princeton but they seem to have interests elsewhere (one, for instance, enlisted in the Marine Corps). We also send kids by the droves into honors programs at UT, SMU, Baylor, and A&M. In fact, there was a story told by seniors a few years ago about a UT professor saying that our English department was the best in the state.

Our motto is “Tradition of Excellence.” Well, that and “Honor, Pride & Tradition.”

I know one guy that is going to Princeton, this girl got a full ride to Harvard, another guy going to Rice, another going to Cornell…

@chicken1992: I only distinctly remember those three, not entirely sure if there were any more. I know quite a few people that are like our valedictorian, accepted to elite OOS schools, but opt for the cheaper UVA or WM. Also out of curiosity, 5% of what? 100? 1000? What’s your class size? I’m not asking in a patronizing way, but it does make a difference.
@canonlyhope I’m not entirely sure of the number. I know our Guidance Department compiled a list of students’ college destinations last year and posted it online, I’ll see if I can find it. I feel like it’s a good amount, but then again I’m biased, haha.

I guess since I’m posting again, I can continue bragging.
We are heads above the other schools in the city, while our Newsweek rating is 123, the next school in the city (Cox High School, the 90210 of VB High Schools) is ranked 695. Which proves it’s not a school system thing, it’s a school thing.
Our school has a program that serves students with moderate to severe disabilities cross the city. I’ve volunteered a few times in there and it’s a beautiful program.
One alum I recently met was a previous Jefferson Scholar at UVa and is currently pursuing a joint law degree at Harvard and Yale. He is considered a myth by many. Love him to bits.
Also special in a different way is that it is rumored a student at our school got a 700 total on his SATs and still got into Radford to play baseball. Classy.

It’s a joke…

“Remember the Titans”

No. My school sucks.
