I have read on the AOP, but I wanted to hear from you guys what it was generally like. What exactly did you get done there and how was it.

I also wanted to know if you guys know anything about the MAGIC program either. Is it very helpful, or is it generally considered a waste of time. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't heard about the MAGIC program (obviously I wasn't in it), but I have done AOP last year.

You will spend one night in Case Hall in a room with another person (female -female, male-male) and it's for two days. You pretty much get a sense of what college life is like. You have 3 meals a day,(just like regular students), attend various programs (safety stuff, study abroad presentation, planning classes around your major etc.), take a tour of campus and look inside the dorm of where you will be staying. You will see what one of the rooms is like. And then at night, you can go out on Grand River Ave. and go to some of the shops.

I met some of my future hallmates there, so it's a great opportunity to get to know people. I hope this doesn't sound like the website lol, but that's pretty much how it is.

Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring a fan. There is no air conditioning in the dorm.

Have fun and welcome to MSU!

How hot do the dorms get? Is it very necessary to bring a fan or something I can do without?

I went in the middle of July last year, so I decided not to compete with 97 degree weather. I have a hard time sleeping in hot weather.

Just bring a small fan, nothing like a cyclone or anything.

It's your choice though.
