Hello! So I’m a sophomore in high school and want to take running start my senior year (most likely). I am taking one AP class right now and one college in the high school class, too. I plan on taking four AP classes next year. I want to be able to graduate high school with an aa, but I’m not sure if I’ll actually be able to do that considering I am planning on only doing one year of running start. The community college I’d go to requires 90 quarter credits for the aa. Does anyone know if I’ll actually be able to get the aa?
Thanks!
@Marvilles. this might seem like a stupid question, but what does aa stand for?
@kimclan1 Associate of Arts degree, I believe.
OP, we cannot answer this question with limited information. We are not familiar with the program, your high school, the requirements, or the CC. Talk to your counselors/coordinators.
Usually, no. It takes 2 years to complete an AA. However, if you have a ton of AP credits that can transfer to fulfill a portion of your degree requirements, it could be possible (not likely). A reasonable amount of work is usually 15 credits per quarter. 20 credits per quarter is pushing it, but I have done it. so that is… 60 credits in a year. You would need an extra of 30 credits transferred through AP credit or other methods ( about 6 classes). You may also choose to study over summer or arrange a way of earning credit over winter or spring break.
You need to pretty much do running start for 2 years and plan very carefully to get an AA with your hs diploma.
