AP and SAT Subject Tests?

I was just curious; if someone (me) is already going to be taking the AP test for a certain subject, should they also consider taking the SAT Subject Test for it?

I'm taking AP Biology and AP World History this year, and I was considering taking the SAT Subject Tests on June 7th. Is that unnecessary, or could I benefit from it? I'm more concerned about Biology than History, because I'm planning to go into microbiology, genetics, or medical science.

AP tests and SAT Subject Tests have different purposes. Most colleges don’t require Subject Tests, but some do. It’s often a good strategy to take Subject Tests in your AP subjects because you’ll already know the material without studying very much.

Thank you! If I’m planning to apply to a couple of reach schools, I should probably take SAT Subject tests, right?

You should only take them if you feel confident in those subjects. It’s gives a little advantage if you do well in them. Colleges love to see it!

Yes definitely, hit two birds with one stone.

Obviously you should take them if they’re required. If they’re not required it can still be a good way to show your knowledge in some subject area, because AP scores aren’t really used for admissions. A lot of college admissions websites will say whether or not they consider SAT Subject Test results (even if they’re not required).
