For those who have taken the test, how much emphasis was placed on specific names and dates? I am struggling in these departments (Can't even remember what the Ninja Turtles painted) and would like to know how much time I should spend on name/date over trends/styles/pieces.

The names of key artists like Courbet (Realism) and David (Neoclassicism) are important. There are usually only about 4 questions of the 115 multiple choice questions that ask for dates. The characteristics of artistic styles are important. For a great review book that covers everything go to REA and take a look at their new book AP Art History. The last five chapters provide a very handy review of key points you must know.

Did not take test yet but really like the class. Teacher has been teaching for awhile and told me to be able to recognize styles and know groups of artists who worked in that style. She gave Venetian school from Renaissance as an example (Titian, Giorgione).

There is a new AP Art History review book that just came on the market. It is written by the teachers who pioneered the ap art history program at the school with the highest ap art history scores in the world. I started looking through this book and it is amazing. They have art history practice tests and a comprehensive plan for studying for the weeks leading up to the AP test. Looking at the credentials of the authors, I would not hesitate to trust this book to guide you. I started using this book in my regular class and my grades have really started to go up. The book is called:

AP Art History w/CD-ROM (REA) The Best Test Prep for the AP Art History Exam with TESTware (Test Preps) (Paperback)
by Frank Chmiel and Larry Krieger

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a 5 on the ap exam and to anyone looking for an easier way to get higher grades in their regular school classes.

ap euro places little emphasis on details.
ap uc history places some emphasis on details.
ap art history places tremendous amount of emphasis on details. the cathedral terminology is easy enough, but the most difficult questions are the ones that concerns the media, women artists (which are few to none). sometimes, it's weird how they give some really really obvious question.

The Ninja Turutles? That was sooo 80's...That's like ancient art so who cares...now fast-foward to the contempoary...that girl, Blanca or whatever her name was from Pokemon: Guardaians of the Sea (or whatever the English/non-Chinese name of the movie was), now what did she paint a portrait of at the end? Do you know? If you don't then how can you possibly consider yourself a master of the major of Art History?!
