AP Art History (cram time!)

Hey! So I've been like a slacker in AP Art History(ok, fine, the CC def. of a slacker, l've been getting A's), and I'm wondering what I should try to do, to do well on the test 4+(pref. 5). I don't really remember many artists, but I think I have an ok grasp of the themes through the ages. I got the REA book, and I've been reading through the annotated mona lisa. Any tips, or suggestions for what to study? Thanks!

i am taking course online so i have the rea one
but i prefer barrons cause the art is right there next to u
cram!

I think you should try to memorize the artists who you have forgotten. Also try going back in your book and recall every art movement in chronological order (and name important artists from that period and what they style of the period resembles).

Make sure you know ball park dates. I’m really bad with this. So ask yourself when Gothic Architecture started emerging (I’m think 1300s…but again, I’m very bad with dates).

Also take a couple of the APAH exams on the college board site.

So far, that’s my method  I think it’s impossible to cram for this test :(

Does anyone happen to have copies of past exams or know where to find them?

for old tests, go here:

[AP Central - The AP Art History Exam](<a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board)

The “all questions” download contains the multiple choice from the exam, I’m pretty sure it’s the exact test they used, but the multiple choice isn’t mentioned on the site, so maybe it’s just practice.

Does anyone have a review/cram packet I could use?

I’ve been going to borders and pulling books off the shelf trying to go through the different books they have. Just flipping through things is helping. I’ve found separate books on famous artists to make sure I have their style down very well and differentiate it. I’ve found a relatively cheap book (20.00 but just as thick) that has every period of art outlined in it with better pictures then Gardners. So I’ve been flipping through that as well.

The best way to ace the short answer section is to master about 8-10 important paintings from different periods and styles, and then alter them to fit the prompt, which you can do most of the time.

btw, gothic art was around 1150-1300
