Would you recommend me to take AP Bio, or AP Chem?

Is self-studying for AP Exams a good idea? or is it better to just take the course?

don't kill yourself over idiot....this is the stupid mistake that kids make
"IF I TAKE THE HARDEST COURSES AT MY HIGH SCHOOL AND DO WELL THEN I'LL BE ON A GOOD TRACK TO AN IVY"
It doesn't work that way!
colleges would rather see you doing good on 1 or 2 AP's rather than taking 3 to 4 AP's and then screwing urself over...trust me...
ooo wait ur one of those who's not going to listen and then come back crying!

um.. thats why i said i wanted to do TWO, not THREE. at least read what i write, gawd.

Well, I'd say do what you feel is manageable. If you do take three APs, take an underwater basketweaving class along with it, in order to ease the homework load. Overstressing yourself with too many APs is never good.

AP Chem is comprised of doing Labs, followed by writing write-ups on those labs (At least, that's the bulk of it in my school). You also get lectures on several topics you probably went over in Chem I, as well as several new ones, and look at them in depth. In this class (at least, in my school), the homework load is fairly light, but you NEED to study, and when you do get homework, it counts. A lot.

At least, this is how they do it in my school. I am not sure about yours. What I would suggest is* go to each of the teachers and talk a bit about the classes.* It gives the teachers a better opinion of you, and you can learn about what you are going to learn over the year, if you attend.

AP Biology is not very difficult in subject matter. Most of the topics are easily grasped. The problem is the amount of the material. There are many topics to cover. I bet this is easier to self-study but it will take a solid amount of time.

The things about AP Bio is that there are 12 required labs. You can do them by yourself (but what are you going to do with an electrophoresis machine afterwards?) or just memorize the procedures, etc... Personally, if you MUST do one, do AP chem. It's more concepts.

this year, i signed up for 4 aps out of 5 elective slots, but on the first day, i realized that this workload was NOT what i wanted for my senior year so i dropped one (psychology- the teacher was ridiculous)

but abt ap self study, i think it's easier to study for bio: a friend of mine is super smart, and she only got a 4 (sorry, i come from a high school where it's considered shocking if you don't get a 5... yeah i hate it too)

but i think it's ok to take the exam if your taking the non-ap course. for example, i took the ap us history exam, even though my school doesn't offer the AP us history class, and I got a 5. also, i know a lot of people take the calc AP exams, but not in the class. In cases like these, i think it's ok

"ooo wait ur one of those who's not going to listen and then come back crying!"

wow insecure.....wth was that...

Yeah.. I'm sure colleges would rather have kids with 4.2's than 4.4's.
