I'm a sophomore now, and we're choosing classes... and I have no idea which one to go with! I like chem alot more than bio freshmen year, found it really boring and while chem's also boring we do more stuff and it seems better. I asked around a little and everyone says that ap chem will kill you, and that ap bio is pretty much just study hall with homework. I'm also going to take APUSH and AP lit and AP psyc next year, so I was going to go with AP bio, but then I wouldn't really have much science classes to take senior year (there's only AP bio, AP chem, physics (which is treated like a remedial class) AP physics and APES at my school)... and I really don't think chem's been that bad and kinda enjoy it...

We really can’t tell. It seems as if AP Bio is on the easy side for you guys in your school. In my own school, both AP Chem and AP Bio are absolute killers. There are only about two out fifty kids enrolled in AP Bio that are pulling an A right now. About the same for AP Chem, I’m not in it so can’t say for sure.

So whereas it would be ludicrous for a student to take both AP Bio and AP Chem in my school, it might be a wise option for you. You should make the decision, you know your personal capabilities and school’s curriculum best.

im currently taking ap lan, precalc acc, ap chem, and ap bio. taking ap chem and ap bio together was the worst mistake of my highschool career. i wish i just took one science class so i can focus on that one! i always get tons of homework from both. i recommend taking ap bio because its mostly memorization. also the ap bio exam is alottttt easier then the ap chem exam! i could probably score a 4 or 5 with bio. but id score a 3 with ap chem because thats supposedly the hardest ap exam. i also took honors chem sophomore year and thought it was easy so thats why i enrolled with ap chem. ap chem is a whole different ballgame. everything is completely different and hard to grasp conceptually. but hey thats just for me. im sure you can do it if you really try hard enough.

I say replace AP psych with AP Chem if possible, and concurrently take AP bio junior year. Don’t forget, senior year will be very stressful with college apps, ECs, etc. you don’t need the added stress of an AP science. Colleges place the most emphasis on the junior year anyway

You need to take chemistry before AP Biology. If AP Chemistry is a killer then take regular(or honor) chemistry. Summer school is a good way to prepare.

I’d say go with AP Chem. It looks more impressive and honestly, its subject matter and material is much more useful for other science classes down the line. Suffer through the difficulty in high school so you can do well in college. And really, AP Chem isn’t too difficult if you really try.

Take AP Chem. It can be very fun and manageable if you’re interested enough.
In my school, the highest grade for AP Bio is a C+ out of 2 classes.
