<p>It’ll definitely help, but it depends on other factors. If you have a low rank/not super-duper high school, it’ll send the message that you’re “smart,” but don’t apply yourself as much as you could. That’s better then not being “smart” or having good grades, I suppose. On the other hand, if you have a super high rank and a really hard high school, they’ll probably understand it was a hard class.</p>
<p>So a B from a competitive high school cannot be compensated for by a high exam grade?</p>

<p>If it’s a really hard school with a difficult AP Bio course, then I think they’ll understand. Like if the class average is around a B but most people still get 5’s</p>
