Ap Bio Dna Replication

during dna replication the template strand is replicated in the 3' to 5' prime direction. isn't transcription basically dna replication? i dont understand why during transcription the template strand is read from 5' to 3' direction?

i preobably will figure it out but i might not so a response is much appreciated

well isnt it that the strand is read from 3
to 5
in one direction and 5
to 3
in the other?

I think you are getting confused with what the mRNA becomes when the DNA is transcripted. The RNA polymerase always works in the 3' to 5' direction and it codes for a mRNA fragment that is in the 5' to 3' direction. The DNA is read in 3' to 5' thus the mRNA must be in the opposite direction when it comes out. Hope this helps.

never mind. i just read something wrong in the book so everything is fine.
