I am already taking three other aps ( ap calc ab, ap gov, apush) in addition to honors english and honors french. I want to know what AP science I should take next year because I am stuck between AP bio or AP environmental. I am worried AP environmental is considered a joke ap and therefore would look bad on my resume... but I am not going into any science field and just want science credits for college. On the other hand, I think it would be easier to manage with the rest of my aps.. I am also considering AP bio but AP bio in my school is a lot of work and a huge responsibility.. and I don't know if I can handle it with my course load. But I am a good history student and I feel I will be fine with ap gov and apush.. I just have to worry about calc ab:/ What do you guys think I should do? AP bio or AP environmental science? And is AP environmental science a joke to colleges!?;O

Looking into schools like Northwestern, Barnard, UC Berkeley, etc

While taking APES will never look bad, most competitive colleges look to see if you’ve taken the most difficult course load possible, and Bio is certainly more difficult than APES. As long as you manage your time well and don’t get behind, you should be fine with Bio. Also if your school lets you, you can always drop/switch in the first few weeks if it’s too much. Either way, this choice won’t make or break anything, but Bio will definitely look better.

^ Totally agree.
since you’re not looking to major or have a strong interest in science…APES would deff be the easier way out. There is no doubt that APES is A LOT easier than AP Bio, and A LOT LESS time consuming. I say, if you have the time, take Bio…I took it this year with a pretty heavy courseload, managing a lot of other activities, did pretty well in the class and worked hard to get the 5. But if you really really really feel like you’re going to have NO TIME WHATSOEVER…take APES, because there’s no way you’re going to want to memorize and study copious amounts of biology facts…but Bio does really look well on your transcript:/…either way, good luck! I’m sure you will be fine either way

I would also definitely go with AP bio as well. Not only is it a tougher course, but is applicable to competitions and other stuff besides the course. (USABO, for example)
