What’s the score cutoff for a 3, 4, and 5?
My teacher said a 65% was a 3 but that seems really high.
Cutoffs are usually as follows: 70 or 75-100 is a 5, 60-70 or 75 is a 4
wait so it’s not 80%?
My teacher says an 80% is definitely a 5, but that the curve often dips to around 70-75 range.
What’s a 4?
How do you guys know this?
What’s the cutoff for a 4??
@AnniiT Same here Didn’t finish 2 essay questions. How big will the curve be? Praying for a 5 :-SS
That was rough. I think I did awful on both the MC and FRQ. Also what was with FRQ1? It definitely wasn’t a lab in my review book or one done in class. Ugh.
i finished everything but i was so cruncehd for time with the mutiple choice… i felt like that multiple choice was so not an accurate discription of your knowledge it was more of like how fast can you read and analyze…like almost exactly act science
@CGlynn :
How are people saying that 75–80% is a 5? The exam was, in general, tougher this year. Do you think that maybe there will be a lower cutoff of raw score for getting a 5?
Also, how do they score the exams with the weight? Is it the average of the %MC Correct and %FRQ correct? I’m confused about scoring…
They don’t; they’re guessing. Nobody here knows what the curve will be for this year. Nobody’s AP Bio teacher knows what the curve will be. It’s all just opinions.
@skieurope
Okay, that makes me feel much better. Do you know how they get a raw score for the test? Is it, like I mentioned, an average of the scores from each section? That makes sense with the 50-50 weight.
For instance, I think I got 60/69 on MC and 29/41 on FRQ. Do these percentages just average together to make a raw score???
@parisbarca77 yes
@parisbarca77 This is an old scoring worksheet; I have not seen one since the redesign, but as you can see, it’s pretty formulaic.

I see. That clarifies things up a bit. I searched for a scoring worksheet for the new exam, but I didn’t have any luck finding one. However, there is a discrepancy in the total number of points one can earn. For the 2013 exam, the total number of points on the exam was 99 raw points. However, there are 69+41=110 total points on the exam. Does anyone know where they get the 99 from? And @ihasit , I’m not sure you’re correct. The scoring worksheet from previous years looks much different.
Is it possible to get a 4 with 6 multiple choice and 2 free responses blank?
Did anyone else completely miss the “EACH” in the FRQ’s and accidentally just write about one of them in excruciating detail? I automatically did 5% lower than all of you because I missed a word. Sigh…
Wow that was so much easier than I expected! Hate the fact that I studied so much for it though because studying was so pointless. Did okay on MC hoping for at least a 50/69 and basically knew all FRQs except two parts Hoping for at least a 4
