***AP Biology 2015 Thread***

@Chew97083 , it’s ok, one of my friends accidentally broke the seal on her calc BC test after she had already sealed it somehow :p. The booklets can be damaged at any point in transportation. And why would anyone even look at your multiple choice booklet? They have the scantron.

Thanks 17isands. What a relief… I was freaking out!! I’m a new person to AP tests, but I really enjoyed the experience.

Do you guys think the college board comes on to these discussions to check if were sharing specifics about the exam

I liked the FRQ questions cuz idk it sounded interesting?? but MCQ were just too much reading…

Possibly, but I haven’t seen anyone actually discuss specific details. If someone did, then he or she would deserve to have his or her scores invalidated due to the agreement he or she signed.

@jhgong I agree with you. The MC is basically like your average test you would take in your English class; they give you a bunch of information and you have to answer questions in a fast manner. The Frqs are not specific and if you provided information about the topic, you definitely will get points.

How many points is the FRQ out of in total? Also, my teacher was saying that sometimes there will be some extra points in the FRQs, where even if its a 10 point FRQ, you could theoretically get 12 (but it would round down to 10). Is this true?

@AnniiT I also like since they don’t count wrong info against you that you can pretty much throw anything and hope something will stick

@CGlynn There are 2 10 pointers, several 4 and several 3.It is possible to go over the max score but it will always be round down so yes.

@CGlynn Not in these new exams. That used to be the case for the old exam, but now, they have made it much more difficult. The question is worth 10 points, and to get 10 points, you have to hit each and every point. I know it sucks.

For the long ones they’re only going to give a max of ten points, but you could theoretically earn 12-14 depending on how many of the possible correct relevant info you put down. Similar for the short ones - possible points are higher than practical max points. (This is according to a few different 2014-2015 review books, Barron’s and 5 Steps for sure and couple more I think)

Let’s all hope for the best at this point lol. Just give me a 4 xD

Can someone explain the AP Bio curve? I understand what a curve is, but is it really predetermined? (Like if you get 75%, then you get a 5…etc), or is it determined after the exams are graded based on averages and adjusted based on how difficult or easy the test was? (Like on the Ap Euro, Human Geo…)

does spelling count? because i spelled hypothalmas (hypothalamus) and autonomatic (autonomic) wrong…
</3

@TopOne Spelling does not matter at all, as long it is comprehensible

@TopOne No, as long as they understand what you were trying to say, then you should be fine.

@edude13 thanks for the info.

@Orioson The course descriptions say that the curve is usually based on the scores of college students enrolled in an equivalent course on the exam. High schoolers’ performane should in general have no bearing on the curve, but the College Board may make adjustments at their discretion

Oh yeah, and ‘pose a question.’ like wth, why am I doing your job lol

Anyone who thought the test was easy probably did not do very well. I, like the rest of you, did not find the MC super difficult- it reminded me so much of the ACT science. The first two FRQ were doozies (5 parts??), but I managed to get through both of them in 43 minutes. I made sure stay strict to the time per question, and I ended up putting something for each part of each question. Once I did 1 and 2, I did 8 next, then 5, then 7, and idk about the rest. I finished with 3, writing part B first, filling out the you know what, and I got midway through my second sentence in part A when time was called. Some of it did not require AP Biology knowledge, simply reasoning and logic skills (most of it on the MC). I feel like I did decently. I guess we’ll see the FRQ again in two days.
