***AP Biology 2015 Thread***

Thank you all for the info. I am also going to rely on the cliffnotes heavily since no time for Campbell. I just finished going over ecology, although I don’t think I know much. Lol .
Ok one last thing on plants, I keep hearing not to waste time on plants, why do you guys think! What have your teachers recommended ? Study plants or not? God help us all in may ! Lol

@0br0123‌ Nah, the math isn’t too bad. Just know Hardy-Weinberg, Chi-Squared tests and rate of change. That heap of formulas they give you?; 90% of them arent even important.

Focus more on the subject matter. I’m aiming for a 4 too…hope the test aint too bad!! :-S

yeah do we have to focus on the plant stuff?

@awkplatypus No. Campbell goes into way too much detail than you need. Just focus on transport in plants and some crucial structures (stomata for example.)

The links I posted earlier do not work anymore. Sorry guys :frowning:

Hello! I’m going to be taking the AP Bio Exam as well as the SAT II Bio test beginning of May. Because I am also taking three other AP exams and studying for the June SAT I’m pretty much on a time crunch. Should I study the Anatomy unit for the AP Exam? What units should I not stress about?

Thank you so much!

@bops300 For Biology, I don’t think Anatomy is highly stressed on the exam. However, you should know basic pathways and processes (ex. Photosynthesis) pretty well. Also, I would probably focus more on the June SAT, as that is more important than an AP exam.

Good Luck!

I just read through this whole discussion and I don’t think I saw this but, a really important skill you need for the AP test (especially because of the new format!!!) is CRITICAL READING. In my bio class, we are getting 2012-2014 tests and I just finished the 2012 one… Most questions require 1-2 paragraphs of reading and the answer is based on that, like small details in the reading will be in the correct answer… So I would make sure you not only know the material, but also are able to focus on reading for 90 minutes!

Hi, does anyone who took the exam last year remember some of the highly-covered topics on the Multiple Choice portion of the exam? I’m afraid my teacher isn’t teaching us everything we know, so if anyone could list out some of the things they remember, it would super helpful to focus my studying!

does anyone know roughly the average number of correct multiple choice needed to make a 3, 4,or 5?

Building off of @awkplatypus what score do you need out of 120 to get a 5? I and a friend did some sketchy statistic based calculations to come up with a curve of about 80 to 84% for a 5, but I would like to very much doubt it.

Hey guys any idea how the Cliff Notes AP Biology Exams compare to the actual (2015) AP test? I just took Exam 1 in the 4th Edition Book and got a pretty easy 5, but I’m suspicious of the authenticity.

Do you guys think it’s a bad idea to practice off old AP biology questions?
Should I just focus on recent review books instead?

@Skarlo: The CliffsNotes exams don’t follow the format of the AP Bio exam, so its not really authentic.

@anonye: That is not a bad idea at all; in fact, I’d highly recommend doing that. Practice off of questions from 2013 and 2014, because any year before that follows the format of the old AP Bio exam. Use review books for, well, reviewing! Not for their practice tests.

So to the both of you, review book practice tests are garbage.

Where can I find recent exams? I tried looking for some online but can’t seem to find any…

This is the 2012 exam, and the most recent one that I found…to find older exams just type in AP Biology (insert year) full multiple choice exam.

Just a quick question…are these the only units that are going to be tested on the exam:
Evolution and Natural Selection,
Cells, Transport, prokaryotic vs eukaryotic.
Biochem,
Cell cycle, DNA
Photosynthesis and plants.
Ecology,
Cell Respiration,
Gene Regulation,
Protein synthesis,
Meiosis and genetics
And Immunity, Nervous System, and Endocrine System (cell signaling),??
Thanks

The test was redesigned for 2013, so I’m not sure how much older exams will help.

@ILDocter Yeah, that’s an old exam. Not beneficial for you.

Also in regards to the units that you suggested, I think you’re spot on. Study those and we’ll be fine I hope.

Do yo u think I need to read the book to do well on the exam?
