DOES ANYONE KNOW IF I SHOULD REREAD THE TEXTBOOK OR JUST STUDY TGE DEFINITIONS FOR THE UPCOMING EXAM THANKS
@ihatebio have you read any of the text book during the year? At this point, cramming won’t necessarily help all that much… understanding the concepts, functions, processes and relationships between the subjects will be more helpful, especially since the bio test isn’t simply just recalling facts anymore.
Does anyone know how to best study for the anatomy/physio part? My teacher didn’t cover it. What percentage of the test focuses on that section?
so to clarify- official practice exams are a previous years released exam or?
@swimmygirl123 Anatomy and Physiology isnt really that important for AP Bio. Just study the nervous, immune, and endocrine systems (and some muscular system stuff like the Neuromuscular junction.) AP Bio is not heavy on Anatomy.
@awkplatypus Yes, the official practice exams are the year before’s actual exam (ex: This year’s released exam was the 2014 AP Bio exam.)
What is the link to get the released 2014 exam to practice? Also in one of the prior posts the person said they had looked at previous FRQ responses to figure out what college board wants to see in our answers. Does anyone knows if sample FRQ answers are online anywhere ? Please let me know . Thank you
Hey guys I tried looking for the 2014 practice exam and i couldn’t find it…i couldn’t find the 2013 exam either…
also did anyone may be take them as MOCKs ? If you did, can you tell us what it was like and what we should focus on?
Thanks

Thank you . I will check out those FRQ responses . I guess 2014 releases exam not available?
Hi guys,
I’m pretty freaked out for the ap bio exam, especially since there has been so many less people getting 5s after the format changed. I have 2 questions:
- For those who have taken the exam in the new format, based on your estimated everage on taking practice exams and prepping before the exam, what did you think was the cutoff for getting a 5 last year or in 2013?
- I've been trying to prep for the new format, but can't find any practice exams online that have the same type of questions that are in the new format. All of the old tests don't really have those 'read and apply' multiple choice, it's mostly almost just 'fill in the blank'. I've taken some practice exams from prep books like Barron's and Cliffnotes, but I can't seem to get my multiple choice past a 50/63.
Just a sidenote, I think I do pretty well on the grid ins and free response, it’s just the multiple choice that’s giving me trouble…
D finished Barron’s. Should I buy her Cliff’s?
@nw2this I don’t think there’s really a need to buy her Cliffs at this point. Barron’s will suffice.
I just wanted to thank everyone on this thread for the info you have provided. Good luck and best wishes!!!
is anyone here lol?

Sorry I am creating this too early. I just want your guys’ opinion/feedback on the AP Bio Exam and the AP Bio class overall. Any tip?

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
While you can certainly do that, you cannot post it here.
I got the Barron’s 500 flash cards…do you think this will be beneficial spending time to learn these? How is everyone preparing for the exam?
@angeliccaam I can’t say anything about those flashcards; never bought them lol, but I’m sure they are good review for key vocabulary, so it will help.
What I’m doing right now is reading through my CliffsNotes and Barron’s prep books multiple times, and opening the textbook if something is unclear. It would be beneficial for the both of us to review key concepts at this point.
I’m also going back and reviewing mistakes I made in past practice tests I took to see what I should review again (Chi-Squared and other specific info), and how I can avoid those mistakes on test day.
I’m using Barons, and I find it very helpful! I also found an “AP Biology Crash Course” book made by REA which is basically spark notes for AP Bio. Both books are helpful, as are the official Barons flash cards. Also, college board has posted some of the free response questions from last year, so you can get a sense of what type of questions they ask! has your teacher talked about letting y’all take the 2014 or 2013 AP Biology modified class room version? Ive taken both, and they are helpful in order to get a sense of what types of questions are asked. I hope this was helpful!
@haal2014 My teacher was able to get a copy of a modified 2014 AP Bio exam. Its been modified for class room work. You should ask your teacher about it. I found it very helpful to take and see what kinds of questions would be asked and such.
