What is the curve on the AP Biology test? I just took a practice multiple choice and got an 81/100 76raw, is this good? Exactly how well would I have to do on the free response section to get a 5. Someone posted this cool calculator thing to get the score for AP U.S. if anyone has one of those for AP Bio please post it, thanks!

It's a REALLY BIG curve. the teacher gave us a paper on it...

a composite of 86-150 was a 5 on the 1999 test...idk if its changed but it's probably close to the thing...:)

76 score
3/4 * 76 = 57. My book says curve starts at 83. So lets say 84.

84 - 57 = 27.

Now this 27 = your FRQ score. But your FRQ score = 1.5 * total points
So you would need 18 total points.

Here is the formula.

Raw score * 3/4 + 1.5 * FRQ score = grade.

So the maximum is simply 75 + 60.

wait, there are 60 possible points on the fr?

just kidding...i got it

40*1.5=60

:o

in 2003, you needed a composite score of 91 for the 5

could anyone post the score ranges to get each score like people have on other threads

It varies from year to year, but it's roughly:

5: 90-150
4: 70-90
3: 50-70
2: 30-50
1: 0-33

we get 100 MC and 4 FRQs...wut r the point break downs? thanks

I think you take number of multiple choice right - 1/4 times number wrong and that gives you you're raw score. And then you multiply that by .900 to get your final multiple choice score.
Then, you add up each of the points from each of your essays and get a totaly essay raw score. Then you multiply that by 1.5 to get your final essay score.

So, let's say I skipped 2 multiple choice, and missed 20. I would get 78 right, so
78- 1/4 times 20=73
now, multiply this by .900, and you get 65.7. Thats the final multiple choice score.
Let's say you get 5 points on each essay. That would be a raw score of 20 for the essays. Multiply that by 1.5 and you get 30. Thats the final essay score.
Now, add them together. 65.7+30=95.7
That's in the range for a 5.

So technically, I guess, the multiple choice is 90/150 points and the essays are 60/150 points.

total points are only 135. raw score of multiple choice* .75 plus raw score of free response * 1.5 to find what you get out of 135. and usually a 5 is around 85-90 and a 4 around 65ish.

ahh it had this in the sparknotes book. So I'm not sure.

if you get perfect on the MC and leave the essays blank, you get a 5.

yea.....but come on now.....

that would take some balls...but if it worked it would definitely be worth it

on the frq we dont have to answer them in order, correct?
