for those of you that self-studied AP Bio and got a 5
what books did you use???
i heard that the ap bio teacher at my school sucked at teaching the ap exam
im going to be taking this class next year (junior) and this course is said to be the hardest one in my school (i go to a very competative private school in TN)
i want to get a head start on the course because it is very important for me to get good grades in this class + get a 5 on AP exam because i plan to go into medicine in college
i know the Cliffnotes AP Biology is used widely and i have heard people do really well on the exam with this book but i want to know what other books are also really helpful and get you a 5 on the AP exam???
Thanks in Advance :D

First time I've heard someone put AP Bio and difficult in the same sentence, not saying that it is simple, but because there are those (in me and most of my friends opinions) Physics and Chem tests, the two-widely known KILLERS. (again, varies from student to student)

But, I self-studied and got a 5, I used Cliff's.

Another good thing to do is to read over Campbell and Reece and their Bio text book, or any bio text book for that matter, self-studying is supplementary, but what's better then actually having the course material in full under your belt?

But then again, if time's the issue, stick with Cliff's.

i know the class is not supposed to be hard
but i have heard that the teacher grades really hard and makes the class hard by not explaining the material well enough for people to understand
i dont know the author of the biology textbook but its a black book with some marrron on the side and is really thick and its name is Biology, 5th ed
i dont have the textbook but ive seen it
also is it hard to get an 800 on the SAT II exam
is E harder or M
what are good books to prepare for the Biology SAT IIs

lol chemistry is soooo easy for me
the AP chem teacher at our school used to write the collegeboard ap exam so he know EVERYTHING about chemistry
everyone who takes ap chem at our school makes a 5 on the exam even if u have like a C+
he is a hard teacher but i understand chem really well so im doing great in that class

bio at my school is impossible, while chem and physics are really, really easy...its all dependent on the teacher.

read campbell book (maybe 6~8 pages a day) and you'll have about a month before the test to review. then use cliffs.

psh bio is easy. our class used the Campbell and Reece textbook. good book. since you're a nerd who's takin ap bio sophmore year and you want to get started 6 months before the class begins you'll probably get a 5. study a steady pace throughout the year and dont cram. make sure you understand the general concepts and know how/why each lab works. you'll do fine. also while ur takin the test dont freak out if you skip a ton of questions. i skipped quite a few and didnt have time to finish the last 5-10 and did decent, but not outstanding on the essays and still got a 5.

lol reflex im a long way away from a nerd
im pretty well rounded as i play on the varsity football team, jv lacrosse team, and am in 5 different clubs
i am a sophomore but i do not take ap bio
i just wanted to gather some info on some good prep books for the class
hopefully ap bio will be easy for me
im taking honors chem this year and have an A+ in the class and im takin ap bio, ap chem, ap english lang, ap us history, and precalculus honors next year and that is a really hard schedule
on top of that i will have PSAT, new SAT, ACT, and SAT IIs in chem, bio (dunno whether e or m), and math IIC
so a head start in the summer would really help me cus my junior year is either gonna make me or break me :S
but all this is future planning for this summer
guess i might be a little nerdy next year...lol 8-|

bump...
anyone have any good prep books for the SAT II in Biology E/M

i hope ur not planning to take biology E/M SAT II until the june after you finish AP bio. I suggest molecular not ecological cuz ecology is the worst part of biology imo

yea reflex i will take the SAT IIs next june after my junior year
but any suggestions for books

bio is really easy at our school. im a soph and getting an A :) the key to success is to actively read the material

i find flashcards for thye vocabulary to be very helpful. saves a lot of time in the long run (unless you got a killer memory)
