Due to my terrible performance in 9th grade biology honors, I can only take ap bio online or I can take ap physics in class since I meet the prereqs to take it in class.
I’m a rising senior so I am unsure which to choose. I’m pretty average at physics with a 88 in the class currently.
Why AP class when you did not do well in the earlier class in the same subject?
Usually a class with real interaction with the teacher and other students is better. But both AP Bio and AP Physics are difficult in your case. Probably you should take AP Physics if you have to have another year in science.
I’m not taking either for no reason. I plan on pursuing medicine meaning I’ll be taking many of these classes again in the future in undergrad.
Sorry to disagree with you, coolweather, but I don’t see a problem with OP taking ap bio. I was in regular level biology last year with an A average and I am doing okay in AP. MANY people warned me to drop it before I fail, but I am doing fine (C average). I would take biology, especially because you are considering medicine. The class itself is a lot of work and material to cover.
@studying4seoul but OP has had “terrible performance in 9th grade biology honors”, so I assume it’s C or lower. If you had an A in regular bio and now have C in AP Bio, someone with a C in honors bio will most likely get a D or and E in AP Bio and maybe 1 or 2 on the AP exam. Plus, it is much harder to online study for an exam, as you don’t have the teacher to ask questions. If OP takes AP Bio online and fails (and with past performance that is likely) that is time and money wasted.
So I think you should take AP physics, since you have a higher grade in that class, and the class is offered in school, so you have the teachers there to help.
