-->AP Biology Study Thread<--

I hate nervous system. I didn't learn a single thing about nerves other than the action potential and still got a 139/150 scaled score on the 2002 AP released exam. I hope they don't emphasize the nervous system tomorrow.

Again.... please answer?? :)

If a FRQ asks you to use a formula (for example, the gross productivity formula), should you write your answer in essay (word) form? Or should you just plug in numbers and give an answer?

Follow the instructions. If you are asked to calculate, write the equation, show your work, and provide an answer with appropriate units. If it says explain, then you need to write an explanation in the paragraph.

Guys here is what I have seen as I have done some FRQ questions from CB. PUT EVERYTHING related. No matter how distant it is just put it down. Since an above poster said, you can't lose points, you might as well put it down.

What you can lose is time. Be sure to supply all the information you know that answers each of the four questions before going back and writing down everything you think you know. Students who write too much on the first three essays may run out of time before they finish the fourth.

The "write down everything you can" approach is similar to how some people play the first shot in a game of pool. People think if the hit the rack of balls hard enough, one is bound to go into a pocket. Usually, all that happens is 15 balls bounce all over the place. It's better to use your time constructively to answer what is asked.

I have to agree with BigIS. If you've ever looked at AP Bio FRQ rubrics, then you'd see that the rubric gives points for VERY specific points related specifically to the question.

I've been looking at Lab12, and I don't really get how they could quiz you over it.

On the MC section...did it become 100 questions instead of 120 because the last 20 lab related questions were removed...or are there still about the same number of lab questions even with the 100 Q MC...?

I think there's still the same distribution of topics so labs are definitely on the MC.

for people freaking out about dissolved oxygen :b

what score did you guys get?

wow, andreaaa we took the same tests, lol! umm I haven't gotten it yet...what did you get?

dang, i really wanted the five, especially because i kind of want to be a biology major. i cant wait until they post the frq on ap central, the average grade for that frq where you had to draw the restriction map will be like a 1.

same here. I don't even remember what I wrote!! ALl the other frq's were ok, but I am expecting a 4 bc of #4 frq..

5! I messed up fr #4 very badly..
extremely happy

made a 4 and did horribly on the free response, the curve was most likely pretty big

i did ok but not outstanding on number 1 2 and 3 but i definitely didnt do well on number 4. i must have got more mc wrong then i thought i did.

Is anyone sorta sad that Bio is over? Our Bio class, which consisted of only 10 kids, grew to become a family :(

i really don't think the curve is any different from most years. the multiple choice was pretty easy and number one of the free response was the only one i didn't know. i felt that by not knowing it i would get a 4, but i still got me a 5!!!!!!!

I thought the FRQ was relatively harder than most years, but the MC made up for the easiness....but still...May is a hazy figment of the past now and my memory is no longer able to piece together the entire test from memory....bah, I got a 5 so it's all good...Good luck to future Ap Bio'ers, this class literally made my day, everyday.

I'm glad it's over. I did not like AP Bio at all really.
