I think you have a really good chance scoring a 5.
tbh I’m struggling most with the FRQs. What should I be doing during the 10 minute reading time? Some tell me it’s better to start while others tell me it’s beneficial to plan out the essays.

anyone…?
if ur in the 48-58 range on the 2013 modified mc test and hit about a 35 on the frq, ur looking at a 5 pretty much
Nevertheless, I might be wrong because the curve varies every year depending on the difficulty of the test.
It’s not really a straight percentage.
The scoring goes like this:
MC: (# correct) * 1.0344 = Score for Section I
FR: (pts for q1 and q2) * 1.5 + (pts for q3-q8) * 1.4285 = Score for Section II
The min score for a 5 is around 92/93.
Out of 58 MCQ, you got about 45 questions right. This makes your score 46.548. To get a 5, you would need a score of 46 on the FRQs.
8:30 A.M
200/400 pages read in the Barron’s prep book.
I know the exact percent varies from year to year, but what’s the range?
I just took a practice test and got a 78% on MC alone, would this be enough for a 5, assuming a decent FRQ score?
Can anyone explain #18 in the 2013 practice exam John Travolski posted, i thought the order would have been D because if Y has no traits, doesn’t it seem llike it should be more recent.
The answer is A, and i don’t understand
On the FRQs, does anyone know if we are allowed to begin writing during the 10 minute reading period?
https://professionals.collegeboard.org/testing/ap/about/changes (“AP Exam Reading Periods”)
I saw this, but I don’t remember being able to start writing during the reading period with other AP Exams.
“Y” should not be the most recent. It should be the oldest since it has none of the traits that the other organisms have. This is because evolution made the Y species branch off into another species when the trait evolved in that new species. If Y were the most recent, then how could the other species have branched off from it and evolved new traits?
@taw1020 Yes we can write during 10 minute reading period, my teacher checked this year bc last year that caused a huge problem at our school and the proctor wanted everything invalidated and it was just a mess
https://prezi.com/user/knuffke/prezis/ David Knuffke has some great Prezis that are essentially like the summaries in prep books but are a little easier to read, I think.
FRQs are weighted slightly more than the MC’s.
Long FRQs (first two FRQs) are weighted more than the short FRQs too. Keep this in mind!
Hey guys for AP Bio FRQs
when they ask for you to Name/Identify/Propose/Explain/etc TWO things and you name THREE things, is it true that the readers will only look at the first two and grade only those two? (Even if the third one was valid and the second one wasnt) This is my teacher said but I’m not sure if this is true. In other AP Exams, if you name more than what they ask, they will look at the third/fourth/fifth ones and award you points if those are valid.
YoLolololol, that’s a good question, I’d like to know too. What about spare tires on the AP Bio FRQs? Can you give an extra example and they’ll only grade the two correct ones (if, say, the extra example is wrong)? That’s how it is for AP US Government & Politics.
They’re supposed to grade the first 2 if you give 3.
realtwinkie, just to be sure, can you link me to the official PDF or whatever file that actually says that from the college board? Or is this just word of mouth?
I’m going off my teacher since she receives lots of information on how this is graded.
Just read (skimmed) an entire 300 page review book in 5 hours…
wanted a five, but mcq is killer now. Hoping for a fourrr
Anyone else taking Physics C too?
