***AP Biology Thread 2015-2016***

Have you tried Crash Course? The animations are truly great!

Hi, so my AP Bio exam is in four days and I was just wondering if any of you have any last minute suggestions? I’m currently studying the Cliffnotes book. Also, does the exam test body systems besides the nervous, immune and endocrine? My teacher said those are the only three we have to know, but all of the other ones are also in my prep book. Thanks!

I think you have to learn the function of the other systems just not specific parts. Like the only thing you really have to know is the blood cells have hemoglobin in them and what not.

What multiple choice questions for the new version of the AP test (2013) have been released? Are there any official practice ones? I need all the help that I can get because I’m not fast enough and the new AP test multiple choice questions are really going to ruin my chances of getting a five since they’re so wordy.

I just got a 74/75 on our in-class Biology final, but those questions weren’t anything like what are going to show up on the actual AP test, so I really think that I have no chance.

I’ve looked at all of the free response and they seem much, much, much, much better and easier than the ones from the old test. Basically, I’m scared that the new multiple choice are going to completely ruin my chances of getting a 5 and I’d really like to get one.

Also, does anybody know the relative worth of the FRQs in comparison to multiple choice? For example, on the AP Calculus AB test, MC is 50% and FRQs are also 50%. How does this work for the AP Biology exam?

Hey guys! When I changed schools halfway through the year, I missed evolution, ecology, and stuff like that. What would be the best way to make sure I’ve got it all down by Monday? I’ve been studying over time and would like to know a way to see if I have a mastery over the material.

Crash Course is pretty helpful IMO

What the heck why is the 2013 released practice test way harder than the 2014,2015 international practice exams?
Is it just me?

The difficulty is quite random, and the scoring accounts for the difficulty. Also, the 2013 test was the first test of the redesigned AP Bio, so CollegeBoard may not have had the difficulty quite down their first time.

That’s a relief. That 2013 MC test was murderous. Where can I find the 2014 and 2015 international practice exams?

Hey guys! I just need to get a 3 on this, anyone have an idea what the lowest percentage would be for that?

@jazlue

3 for the 2015 international practice exam was 51/120 which is about 43%

@JohnTravolski
The 2014,2015 international exam is super secure and so it should not be on the internet. Teachers can use it to assess their students though. I took it in school. I don’t know if you can find it on the internet.

Darn it! My AP Bio teacher said that he didn’t have access to anything that I didn’t. So I guess I have virtually no resources now.

I can’t wait till I’m done with this exam - it’s just a stupid memorization contest… 100% I should’ve taken AP Chem…

Soo unprepared, since i got 55% on 2013 practice exam, and getting even lower on the frqs.

Anyone do the practice questions collegeboard released? Those were better and easier, and ive done the 2014-2015 frqs? Other than actually studying material, am i good in terms of getting familiar with this upcoming test?

good luck to all of you!! I’m going to be taking AP bio next year. my friend is giving me a barrons review book and I just bought barrons flashcards for the class as well. in our school we use the Campbell Reece seventh or eighth edition (I think eighth). since many of you are saying its memorization, should I start studying the flashcards during the summer? I’m getting the barrons book on Tuesday after she takes her exam, should I also start going through that? I want a 5 on this exam to help with my major…

No, I just had the same problem. On the 2014 exam I got a 44/58 i just took the 2013 exam and got a 35…

Does anyone know if cell communication is an important topic for the exam? Is it worth my time to learn it since we never learned it in class?

It’s pretty important. Especially signal transduction.

I know the exact percent varies from year to year, but what’s the average?

I just took a practice multiple choice test and got around a 78% so I was wondering if this would be enough for a 5, assuming I did decently on the free response.

Hey, I just got 50/58 on the MC part of this test:

That’s on track for a 5 if I do well enough on the essays. For anybody who has already taken the AP Bio test, is the multiple choice section of what I just linked to very representative of the real thing that you took? I want to know if I actually have a decent chance of getting a 5 or not.
