***AP Biology Thread 2015-2016***

Hey guys, kind of late to joining the conversation. I’m currently a sophomore who is taking 3 AP classes (AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Mandarin Chinese), so it has been pretty rough for me. Plus, it is my first year taking any AP classes. I’m one of the top students in my school and I have done extremely well in all 3 classes, in addition to my other honors classes. All of my AP teachers expect me to get a 5, based on my performance in the classes throughout this school year. In bio, my teacher held a final a week before the actual national exam, and I scored on the borderline of a 5 and a 4. I’m really hoping for a 5 on all of the exams I took, but based on what I’ve been seeing on this thread, I’m really nervous. I think I did relatively well on the MC (except I had to guess on about 5 questions or so because I ran out of time), but I only got to do 3 of the grid ins. I thought the FRQs were not what I expected, since I spent the whole weekend studying for this exam. I spent too much time on the first one and ended up having to do all of the other FRQs under 40 mins. I was still writing up until they called time. Personally, like many of you have said, the material that the test covered were not the ones I expected, and I was hoping it was more thorough than it really was. Hopefully they will curve the scores a lot so I can still get a 5.

In my opinion I thought the mc questions and especially the frq’s were easier than the 2013 released exam so the curve should be pretty normal.

FRQ’s are going to be released today right?

I’m going to say this again: this “experimental questions” that keep getting brought up are a RUMOR

@iwanttogetintocollege where did you confirm this from?

@nerdmaster so far I am yet to come across any one to give a source as to where they found out about these questions… And when scouring the webs I found no official evidence of it. Until some evidence can be produced it is safe to assume it is a rumor, even if you can’t find direct proof of it being false.

@nerdmaster
Resolved: This college board link explains grading and makes no mention of experimental q’s

IMHO this is actually a good thing…

I’m actually pretty thrilled if there is no experimental questions. Missed questions will not count as harshly percentage wise.

FRQ’s were just released!

@iwanttogetintocollege Agh. I screwed up on the last few questions in the MC section about pH. Did any of you guys get those?

FRQ’s have been released:

I knew Form O was probably going to be the one released but Form D questions seemed so hard that I was curious.

Does anyone know any websites that posted answers to the bio frq’s?

Wait just making sure, but the most likely affect of salinity on lap 94 frequency was that as salinity increases the frequency of lap 94 increase Rt? Also, does it decrease osmolarity or increase osmolarity?

@Lebronjamesisbad

  1. Yes
  2. I think increases, not 100% sure.

@penguin007 but the function of the lap 94 is to make the cell more hypertonic by adding more solutes Rt?

Lol I thought osmolarity was the concentration of water… I missed that one, but I understood the concept, so I’ll get some points I think.

Also, what is one reason y an individual bacteria would benefit from the nutrient choosing

What did you guys write for the prolactin after exercise? I said that it increases after exercise, but seems like some people argued the exact opposite due to the SEM. my teacher never really went over that stuff, so i just interpreted it as a clear increase. do you think collegeboard would accept both answers as long as there was justification??

@brixtonshifty86 if u read the question carefully, it says does prolactin CHANGE after , so both answers should be acceptable

Doesn’t prolactin decrease after exercise as shown by evidence that during the period of absolutely no exercise the prolactin decreased. I could be completely wrong on my reasoning here.
