AP Biology vs AP Physics B for Dentistry

Which AP science course should I take for my senior year? I am a junior now and I took AP Chemistry this year but I didn't really like it too much. I hope to become a Dentist in the future, so would Biology be more important than physics?

Also, I heard the Biology teacher isn't really that good. Is Biology self study able?

Thanks!

If you didn’t really like AP chemistry, then AP physics wouldn’t be your cup of tea. Both are heavy in mathematics. In reality, you have to take both in college, so pick the one that will interest you the most. Personally, I’d say go with AP biology, because it’s less memorization and much more broader thinking. I enjoyed the new curriculum, so give it a shot.

It’s common for a person who didn’t like AP Chemistry to like AP Physics or vice versa.

What about AP Chemistry did you not like? Was it the material, the math, the pace, etc.?

Take which one you’d like more. You’ll have to take those classes in college anyway.

I’d say go with AP Physics B because you’re most likely going to have to take some physics courses in college so you should be somewhat exposed to beforehand. Also, I think it’d be good to get knowledge on a wide variety of science topics in order to explore a little bit. Also, I intend to go on the Pre-Dental track as well. As such, we will have to take biology and chemistry introductory series and upper division classes in those areas. Some colleges will use the AP credit to place you in a higher level science class right out of the gate. For me, at least, I knew I wanted to start from the beginning of the sequence in college so that I could build a strong foundation for the upper level classes. Just something to keep in mind.
