i'm taking Honors Pre-Calculus. At my school if you take honors pre-cal you skip AP Calculus AB because. So would i be able to take the AP Cal AB test without even studying? Or should i get a prep book and go through it?

You should either study or ask the teacher/a trusted student if the curriculum really truly overlaps. It’d be best to at least skim a book at the bookstore/library/online, rather than paying (or making your school district) pay for a course you may not do your best on.

Also of note, AP students typically spend a couple of class days or more studying. That probably shouldn’t be an exception for you. And if you struggle throughout Pre-Calc all year, you probably should be wary of testing. If your school offers AP Calc AB, then chances are that course preps students better for the test.

I have never heard of a precalc class covering enough AB material for students to pass the test. Taking BC gives you credit for AB, so if that’s what you’re doing you don’t need to take the AB test.
