So, my teacher told me that if you had all 9's on your FRQ's you could get a 5 by almost ommiting all the answers on the MC? is that true? haha
Cause i know you can miss alot and still get a 5, because our teacher gave us a mock test and i skipped 5, got 9 wrong =\ and did ALOT better on FRQs, and still got a 90% with a 5.
Which one is more important to focus on?

You're receiving misinformation.

On the AP Calc AB exam, there are 108 points possible. 90% would be earning 97.2 points. If you skipped 5 and got 9 wrong (thus getting 31 questions correct), your MC score would be [31 - (1/4 x 9)] x 1.2 = 28.75 x 1.2 = 34.5. A perfect FR would only get you to 89 points (after rounding up)...

All 9's on your FRQ's would get you to 54 points. This also almost never happens, especially lately.

I would say to aim for 80 points to be safe. That way, when you get some questions wrong and have underestimated what you need for credit, you're probably still above the mark. (The last few released results, scores in the mid-to-high 60's were enough. I'm not sure if that's still the case.)

That being said, I think if you can plan to do well on the FRQ's, you have a little more freedom to skip and/or miss a few MC questions and be OK. The only problem is that you don't see the FRQ's until after the MC, so you should still do the best you can on those.

oh ok. I guess our teacher probably curved up the grades with everyone elses.
I'll try to focus more on FRQs because our teacher emphasized those alot, and she is really a great teacher. I think she used to be an AP grader, so I think I'm all set. I just wanted to make sure about that. thank you though!

is 80+ a 5?
