If I don't get a level 3 or higher on the BC exam, but I get a 3 or higher on the AB subscore of that exam, can I get credit for Calculus I as if I had taken the AB exam and passed it?

Hoping the same thing lol

Did some research: http://www.amath.unc.edu/Faculty/huang/teaching/math232/Notes/math232Syllabus.pdf

MATH 232: Calculus II

To register for this course, AT LEAST ONE of the following must be true:
2) you earned at least a 3 on the AB subscore on the BC-AP exam,

thanks, 10 char

Now, JG, let me just hope I get my 3 subscore. A 3 overall would bring me joy and happiness, but I’ve just finished unit 5. I might just have to do unit 6 on my own after it’s closed.

I just studied unit 7…didn’t take long to learn the concepts…
if u need any help, just let me know…i’ll be studying all week until the exam

My D got a 5 on the AB Calc AP exam. I’m guessing she will get a high enough score (3 or above) on the BC exam to get credit for Math 232. Two questions:
- If she goes to CTOPS before the AP results come back, will they let her bet that she’ll get a high enough score on the BC Calc AP exam to skip Math 232, and register for Math 233, or will they make her register for Math 232 and then change it later if she gets a good enough AP score?
- What is the experience of students out there who have placed out of Math 231 and 232, and moved on to math 233? Did you feel it was a mistake to start college math at that high a level?

I don’t believe either JG or I took AB so that’s why we’re worried.

From reading the first year guide, it looks like they should allow your D to register for MATH 233.

I don’t have any experience with this, but as long as UNC’s calculus courses aren’t proof-based, I wouldn’t anticipate a problem. You should also be aware there’s an honors section of MATH 233 for those who score a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam.
