AP Calc BC for Waiver for Math 104/110 in Wharton

Hi!

I was recently accepted to Wharton and I am starting to get an idea of what I want my schedule to look like. Right now in high school, I am taking AP Calc AB. However, I noticed that Wharton only offers “credit” for the BC test which is a waiver for the Math 104/110 requirement. Did I read this correct in the handbook? And would it be wise for me to self study for the BC test and try to get a 5 to get this waiver? Thanks for any help!

@collegestorm :

That is correct, they only give credit for a 5 on BC. As far as if it would be wise to self study for the BC test, that is completely up to you. If jumping a semester ahead in math during your first year is something you’re up for, then go ahead and take that BC exam if you think it’s worth it!

Congratulations on your acceptance! You are correct, if you get a 5 on the BC test, you will have completed your only math class requirement for Wharton. Some math classes at Penn are notorious for having tough teachers with bad grading policies. So you can dodge the intro level bullet with the waiver. Good luck!
