Anyone taking AP Calc AB, or has questions or responses, feel free to post. I, myself, am taking AP Calculus AB with a somewhat flimsy math background. In the past I've seen a thread which consisted of people posting what topic their class is on, what they are struggling with, and possible guides/resources in the hopes of preparing diligently for the AP exam, as well as performing well in the class.

Currently in my class we are studying limits. Concepts that we have covered so far since the start of school -two Aug 13th- : analyzing limits of functions graphically, evaluating, properties of limits, and limits involving trig functions.

To* not two. Today we covered continuity, 1 sided limits, and greatest integer function.

Well i am taking calc AB this coming up year but i havnt started yet … school starts Aug. 20 so yea ^_^

@Twiggy22 Nice, my second week of school is about to start. We’ve already covered around 89, or so pages in our Calc book.

Update: 8/17 we covered infinite limits, and limit properties. Such properties are: sum/difference, product, and quotient. We discussed one sided limits, and removable/non-removable discontinuities. I personally need to work on memorizing the unit circle values again, as I can’t remember them off the top of my head.

I’m taking it this year but school starts aug 27 for me. I am a little nervous because I am the only sophomore taking it and I took precal over the summer, but the teacher tutored me this summer and thinks I can handle it. Plus the teacher is awesome!

Nice! Well, stay tuned if you need help or anything. I plan on posting Mon-Fri for stuff I did in class. I may ask for help as well. So, we can help one another out if you’d like!

My teacher has been skipping around a lot. He is all over the place. How hard is the exam?

@goldmine I’m not completely sure. It’s being offered for the first time at my school. What are you guys doing?

Are limits not usually done in pre calc? We did limits for like a month last year -_-

My precalc did sorta a preview of calc we didnt study ALL of limits but we did limits and my teacher just told us like we will see in calc lol

and shouldnt this be in the mathematics and computer science thread forum thing … it seems out of place here and we would probally get more responces there :D… Just Sayinn

I was taught an introduction to limits in precal, but teacher said we would go into more detail in Calc. If everyone would like, then I can create this thread on the mathematics an computer science forum.

Any good prep books?

^ yeah whats a good review book? @haphazard, we are doing limits stuff.

My friend who took the ap Calc AB test last year - he got a 5 - used Barron’s. I’d wait a bit till more people start school. Tomorrow will start of the 2nd week of school for me.

tommorw will be the first day of school for me … and we shall see what my devil of a calc teacher does
The calc teacher (she teachs AB & BC) is very well known for being a monster she is a very very good teacher but a teacher tht gives a hell of a lot of work

Twiggy, you’re better off than me. It’s my teacher’s first time teaching ap Calc. I’m just a bit worried. Her grading is crazy too. 90% = tests! 5% = h.w.

Ah! :\ we have a test Wednesday over everything on limits. I’m just a bit nervous. It seems simple, but I don’t want to over complicate things, as I usually do that and bomb math tests.

Hey guys, I need his with solving w/ conjugates! any tips or good videos?

Hey Goldmind, if you don’t mind, then I can help you out in a bit. I can help you in an hour and half, because I’m going to finish up other homework/look over SAT stuff. I have Calc homework to do, which I want to save for the end.
