AP Calculus AB Exam -- Predictions vs. Results

MathProf, I wish I knew that then :-p But it's all good I 'spose.

5 on calc AB!!!yay!!

I'm interested to know how many of you consulted the tables of previously released exams, practice test results, and your feelings regarding the test when predicting how you did, and how many of you went with your more emotional, "man that free response was brutal" inclination. I was upset about the free response, but after the answers started circulating, and I was able to estimate my frq scores and my MC's (from practice tests, which I think are useful in predicting, as the MC hasn't changed much), that I stood a decent chance of getting a 5 on the test, even if it wasn't curved generously. With the expectation of a lenient curve, I was really believing I had a 5 on the test (a lot of that confidence resided in my own feelings regarding my MC performance, as I believe I got somewhere around 43/45). I'll admit to being worried, but once I looked at the data, I was never worried about getting anything lower than a 4.

This is really solid advice, and I think a must-have for any serious AP Calculus student. I know that it's too late for those of you who took it this year, but maybe someone in next year's crop will see it.

I really think that we have worked too hard to condition ourselves to the 90-80-70-60 mentality of success, and the idea of a 65-70% as being seen as extremely successful is an incredibly difficult mindset to break into.

It's one of the reasons that when I run my course at my high school, we have nearly six weeks of review, and we literally grade these old tests according to the curves for their corresponding year.

Thought I got a 4..got a 5 :D

To those of you who got a 5, approximately how many MC's do you think you got right and about how many FR points do you think you got?

I estimate around 41/45 on MC and 33/54 on FRQs (using mathprof's grading info) for my 5.
