AP Calculus: AB or BC?

I am going to take AP Calculus classes next year(junior year). The two courses cover content for both AB and BC exams. But I am not sure if taking both will be beneficial. Does BC have an AB subscore? And if it does, will it be counted just like an AB exam, or is it better if I take both tests?

If you take BC, it is supposed to cover two college level courses and if you take AB, it is covering one college level course. Unless your school advises it because they think you are missing some material if you dont take both, you should take BC.

You cannot take both tests, except in different years. The BC exam does have an AB subscore, but I don’t believe that is a released score, more just FYI. If you intend on going into the math/science fields, then skip AB and take BC… that’s what most of us do. Are you in PreCalc (honors) now?

Yes, I am indeed in PreCalc(H) now. I am taking Calc 1 next semester and Calc 2 the one after that. Calc 1 covers all of AB and Calc 2 covers the additional topics in BC, not the ones already covered in Calc 1. In terms of majors, I am mainly interested in Computer Science and Business.
