If I get a 5 on the ap calc bc exam, should I take calc 3 in college? Would it look bad if I don’t take calc again? I’m trying to plan my courses for freshman year
Is your UG giving you credit for calc I/II? If so, then you take calc 3 if: You want to, or you are majoring in a subject that requires it. (e.g. chemistry, physics)
You should also take statistics.
@plumazul yes my college is giving me credit for calc I and II. I’m majoing in biochem and calc 3 isn’t required and I really don’t want to take it, but would it look better when I apply to med school if I do take calc 3?
Med schools don’t care what you take beyond the required classes. They do care that you do well in what you take. If you are planning a career in research/academic medicine then you should take as many upper division science classes as you can.
If you’re getting specific credit for calc 1 and 2 then you don’t need any math technically. Id still take at least one semester of statistics though because unlike calculus it’s actually useful in medicine.
