AP Calculus Credit and Placement for SEAS?

Hey everyone. If someone takes the AP Calculus BC or AB exam and gets a 4 or 5, is he or she automatically placed into Calc II or can the person choose to start with Calc I?

I think I'll get at least a 4 on my AP Calclus BC exam but I really want to start at Calc I at SEAS so I can further solidify my math background.

you can start at calculus one if you choose, receiving a 5 on AP Calc AB or a 5 Subscore for Calc AB on the BC Test, you have the ability to begin in Calculus two. If you receive a 5 on the Calc BC test, then you have the ability to begin in Calculus 3. Personally, I think there’s only so much you can learn about calculus one and two, so i began in calculus 3 and it greatly freed up my schedule. Also, calculus two is considered the hardest of the three, with calculus three coming in second and calc one in third. hope this helps

Thanks for your input. I hate to be a little ******* but if you look at the double asterik at the bottom of the link I am attaching, it says that SEAS students MUST begin with Calc II if they got a 4/5 on BC exam.

i’m pretty sure it says that because the only way you can get credit for that AP class is if you start in calc 2…i know plenty of my friends did what you’re thinking about (with 4/5s on the BC test). anyway, it really doesn’t make sense for the to say: “if you get a 4/5 on BC, you absolutely have to start in Calc 2” they just can’t do that. good luck!
