<p>So I got accepted into this new program called the AP Cambridge Capstone program. Its a program that basically makes you do research. The Capstone adviser in our school says the Credential looks great on a college application. I have seen that MIT approves of this program. <p>So basically I'm unsure whether I want to do this or not. I'm currently a freshman at Miami Palmetto Senior High School. I'll give you a comparison of two possible schedules for next year. Which looks more impressive:</p>
<p>English Honors 2/ Pre Calculus Honors/ Chemistry 1 Honors, Gifted/ AP European History/ AP Environmental Science/ AP Physics B</p>
<p>OR With Cambridge</p>
<p>English Honors 2/ Pre Calculus Honors/ Chemistry 1 Honors, Gifted/ AP Human Geography/ "AP" Research Seminar/ AP Physics B</p>
<p>From what I understand, that’s pretty impressive. The class schedule doesn’t look too different besides you have the research seminar instead of APES. If I were you, I would take the offer because you might be able to have a better overall experience and there are some aspects of the program (i.e. the research project) that do require a lot of dedication.</p>
<p>I would definitely go with it. With the Cambridge schedule, you only lose APES, which although still an AP class, is not regarded as one of the more prestigious, nor difficult. This program gets you great research experience, and it shows academic prowess. I’m sure it would look great for college. If it were me in your position, I’d do it.</p>
<p>@JJoy15 Assuming that you’re the same person from the other thread looking towards getting into MIT, I don’t think losing AP Euro History is that big of a deal. (As long as you meet the minimum class requirements for MIT.) The AP Cambridge Program as a whole would be a lot better and you could probably focus more on sciences (with the research project?) so you look like a better candidate for MIT.</p>
<p>The research project has almost nothing to do with sciences. It deals with topics like global finance and China as an emerging superpower. Cambridge forces one to take AP Human Geography as well.</p>
<p>My question is which one would be/look better for an application to MIT:</p>
<p>AP Enviro + AP Euro + AP Physics B or AP Human + “AP” Research + AP Physics B</p>
<p>Are taking classes like AP European History and AP World History notable to MIT? Are they important classes to take? I already know that MIT gives no credit for these classes but are they still important to take? </p>
