AP Chem/Chemistry promblems I don't get? PLEASE HELP!!

So here's the directions.
Write the formulas for the reactants and predicted products for the chemical reactions that follow. Assume that in all cases a reaction occurs. Write all substances in their proper form--as ions if appropriate--and cancel any spectator ions. Assume that the reactions are in aqueous solution unless otherwise stated.

I don't understand the directions. At all. Can someone please dumb it down for me? Especially the assuming part and aqueous solution part.

A) Solid calcium carbonate is strongly heated.
My answer: CaCO3(s)--->CaI(aq)+CO2(g)

B) Solid Barium oxide is added to distilled water
BaO(s)+H2O(l)----> H2O(l)+ BaO(s)

please help

A)CaO+CO2 don’t know if the I in your equation was intentional or a typo
B)The equation you wrote is showing no reaction;
Try BaO(s)+H2O(l)---->Ba(OH)2

Yeah lol. From carbonate to iodine. My chem teacher actually went over B and now I get it. Thanks.
