@shanog, don’t worry. You aren’t that smart.

Has anyone taken AP Physics C and can still honestly say that Chem is the hardest…?

I really wish I HAD taken AP Chem. Even though it’s considered the most difficult AP Class/test, it looks so interesting.

It depends on the student. AP Calculus BC is considered the most difficult AP class in my school by a long shot yet it is my easiest class. And I have more trouble in some other AP classes.

But generally, AP chemistry and AP Physics C are considered among the most difficult AP exams.

^yeah it truly depends on you and also how the classes are at your school. I think AP Chem is easier than AP Calc BC but Physics C was the worst AP exam for me ever. Out of the 3 exams i failed of the 10 scored exams so far, 2 is thanks to physics C. Got a 1 on e&m and 2 on mech. Chem I was able to scrape a 3. And calc we have the best teacher ever so I should pass BC… i passed ab with the same teacher!

Totally depends on the person.

I have a 100.4 average in chem AP and I find it pretty easy even though many people say it’s one of the hardest APs.
But I find econ AP to be hard ( I study 2-4 hours for tests, yet I still have a B+ in that class…) even though many people say it’s one of the easiest APs.

Difficulty also depends on the teacher. In my AP chem class, an A- was an 85% so it wasn’t impossible to get an A. average test scores were 50% (my teacher considered this bad), 55-60 (considered to be okay), and 65% (considered to be good).

I’d say APUSH is the hardest, solely because of the work load. I personally am very good at math, so science and math APs aren’t as tough for me as history APs are.

Agree with rodney. D took AP bio freshman year, great teacher, D made a 4. AP Chem sophomore year, lousey teacher, few labs, first B and only two kids passed the exam. Learned our lesson.

AP Chem is somewhat difficult, but nowhere near the level of AP Physics C: E&M

Difficulty of APs I’ve taken from easiest to hardest:

Easiest: Psychology, World History, English Language, US History, English Lit
Medium: Govt., Macroeconomics, Euro History, Stats
More difficult: Chemistry, Calculus BC, Physics C Mechanics
Almost impossible: PHYSICS C E&M

Of course, generally 2nd semester senior year classes will be more difficult, no matter the subject, just because you stop caring so much.

AP Physics C is a lot harder. I got 5 on AP Chem, and it wasn’t too hard

At my school, you have to take a placement exam to get into AP Bio and then sign a form saying you won’t drop out of the class within the first week.

But I think that it depends. Are you better at memorizing or using math? I haven’t taken an AP science yet but I’m taking Bio next year and honestly they’re both hard, but the specific level of difficulty depends on what kind of learner you are.

I know this is a bit random, but how difficult is AP Calc AB compared to BC?

Aerobug: If you look strictly at the curriculum AP Cal BC has to be harder than AB simply because it covers the same thing plus additional topics. But test score wise BC students tend to do better because most people’s first calculus class is not BC, it’s regular/honors/AB/Cal 1 so BC students have a solid grasp of half the material before hand and only take the class if they actually want to.

I feel like it really depends on what kind of person you are. If you are better at doing math stuff and understanding concepts, go for AP Chem. I can’t tell you how hard the course is going to be since it varies from schools to schools. At my school, the AP chem program SUCKS indeed while the AP Bio program is much better that more than half the class last year got 5s. I haven’t taken Bio yet, but I feel like AP chem is a lot of fun and it’s possible to do a lot of independent work if your teacher sucks(like mine).

Agree with the post above. The AP Class completely depends on whether you can learn the material even if you have a poor teacher. A good teacher always makes you understand the material better, but that doesn’t make the class itself easier or harder.

In my opinion, AP Bio is a very class - the more you read, the more successful you will be. You just have to take time to memorize the material.

AP Chem/Physics are different because it requires problem-solving thinking, which not everyone has the ability to do.

If you study enough, any class can be achievable, everything isn’t based on the teacher.

ap biology is easier than ap chem in my opinion. i took both of the classes during senior year. chem gets confusing but the thing is that my teacher was horrible. i passed my bio exam but failed my chem one. i think it all depends on what your teacher is like. i ended up with 96 in bio and 96 in chem. it is possible to take both classes but in the end it all depends on the what type of teacher you have. chem gets confusing when you talk about the hybridization and all that stuff. for bio you just need to read and memorize.

All of the AP science and math courses I feel are much easier to self-study than the foreign languages and English courses.

~Try learning Spanish on your own with often bad textbooks, it’s hard to even know where to start studying because you have vocabulary, grammar, and a reading/writing/speaking/listening task that you have to do multiple things at once but how do you study them altogether?

Both Biology and Chemistry are easy to study for–in my opinion. All you have to do is reread until you get the topic and practice problems until the right answer pops up and then you know how to do the problem.

Foreign languages are virtually impossible to self-study :O. AP English, you either have it or you don’t. You can’t really learn and improve much besides doing a lot of practice tests. AP Science is just repetition, but it can be tedious and confusing if you aren’t the most science-oriented person.

AP Chem was the easiest AP Exam I’ve ever taken, and I’ve taken both AP Human Geography and APES. (Granted, APES was self study, and probably would have been easier than Chem if I’d taken the class.)

The class, at my school, was a ton of useless work, though. Our lab reports usually ended up being over ten pages long, and we had one every three weeks or so, on top of a moderate bookwork. I was hit with early onset senioritis (junioritis?) in the second semester, and barely squeaked by with a 90.2 percent even though I had high A’s on almost all of the tests. Of course, it was complete repeat of my chem honors class, with only two more topics thrown in. Oh, how I regret wasting my life in that class.

I’d rank the AP’s I’ve taken English Language>APUSH>Biology>APES>Human Geography>Chem, based on how much extra time I had to ■■■■■ and how horrible I felt about my score when I walked out the door. (I ended up with 5s on everything, so this is all subjective.)
