taking ap chem starting from next week (hopefully) i need a good review source. I am currently using 5 steps to a 5 and also hve the AP chem cliffnotes book, the 5 steps to a 5 is a little confusing, anyone using the book have any tips for me? Thank you

u need a good textbook. i suggest zumdahl (and so will most others). i also suggest the answer guide that comes with it. next: get a lot of ap problems.

here's a good link: http://www.gashalot.com/chem/dbhs.wvusd.k12.ca.us/AP-Chem/AP-Free-Resp86Ans.html
(go up a few menus to get to the root menu)

yea dude zumdahl is god for AP Chem. get his book.

Our whole AP Chem. class is using that book.
Zumdahl is pretty good and its approved by the AP Board, too. It has lots of example problems.

just got the book today its the zemhler or whatever, newest edition, knocked down two faculty members just one more (the tuffy counselor to approve ap chem and i'm in)

The Zumdahl text is best for students who have had a prior course in chemistry. It touches only very lightly on some basics. If you have had a prior course, or have access to a good tutor, you'll do fine with Zumdahl.

Zumdahl is a good book, but just make sure you get the sixth edition.

I personally dislike Zumdahl.

Zumdahl is a great book, so easy to understand everything, and for review books, the Arco book and princeton review book are really good

I think Zumdahl is too simplistic. It's explanations and examples aren't in depth enough for me to get a full understanding. Using Zumdahl doesn't prepare you for the problems you might encounter on the AP exam.

... r u crazy? the zumdahl book is sooo hard to understand! but, i have the 3rd edition, so it might be kinda weird compared to the modern versions

I'm not crazy. I have the 6th edition.

In my class we used the Zumdahl 3rd Edition until the beginning of this semester and it is MUCH more challenging than the newest edition. You're not alone.

I agree with Ellen F. when she says that Zumdahl may be harder to understand if you don't have prior experience with Chemistry. Sometimes I think that the book goes into too much detail. My teacher informed us that it's a college text, but he prefered using it over the other approved Chem. books lying around. We use the 3rd edition btw, and my book is almost falling apart.

Zumdahl is the best...Everything you need to know for the AP is in there, but an experienced teacher will help your learning process.

Just remember that you only need about 66 % on the Multiple Choice and good showing on the Free Response to get a 5. It's kind of weird, though, that you're starting mid-year. Good luck to you.
