ap chem

I think I got a C or below on my first chem quiz today…should I drop the class?

Probably not just yet, sometimes AP classes can take a while to get used to. See how you do on the next few quizzes and tests and then decide whether or not you want to drop it. I actually got a 79 on my first test in AP bio last year but after that my test scores were better.

No! I’m in AP Chem as well. “Just keep going” - my teacher. I talked to someone who took the class last year. They got a 58 on the final, but managed to get a 5 on the AP test. Everything is relative.

First few weeks can always be the worst in an AP class. Give it time. If you do not feel better in a month or so, then reevaluate and see how comfortable you are.

I’m a former AP Chem student and current TA for an AP Chem class. One test? Pfft. Don’t sweat it. I got a low C on my Quantum Mechanics and Thermo test, but still got a 98 on that unit exam, a 100% on the final, two A’s in the class, and a 5 on the AP test. From a student standpoint, it seems fine, but from a grader standpoint, still does. I’ve given out upwards of 30 Fs on tests and quizzes 4 weeks into school (for one class). A lot of these kids improve significantly after getting slapped with that 13/30. A stumble or a setback isn’t an indicator for you to quit, it’s a signal to work harder.
