long story short i dont necessarily want to self study chem but my AP Chem class was not offered this year due to too few sign ups anyways can anyone suggest a prep book to help me get a head start for taking AP Chem next year? which is better Barrons or Princeton I do have chem background, highest average in my honors chem class, not that that means anything but also would any one suggest any texts as well thanks for ur help!

I have no idea on any review books, but if your school lets you check out textbooks, then try to find the book that you would be using if there were an AP Chem class, and study off of that.
You might also want to consider taking the SAT 2 Chem in preparation for the AP exam, since you will be effectively spending two years learning this stuff, so why not just put your knowledge to the test?

I used Princeton Review....along with the text I had for my class....and I got a 4 on the exam.....

I never tried Barron's because back then I wasn't a CC member....and I didn't actually go through forums to decide what prep books to buy...

Yeah, you might want to try and get the AP Chem textbook. I'm not sure about the prep book, but there's always the Consolidated AP thread.

According to what I've read so far on the Consolidated AP thread, the Zumdahl's textbook and Princeton Review prep book are the best.

PR is the best book, though I personally would recommend the Brown textbook (that's what I used when I self-studied chem).

I thought the Zumdahl textbook was really good, the Brown, Lemay, Bursten one was good too.

I self-studied for AP Chem concurrently during a regular chemistry class. I used Zumdahl and Peterson's/Arco's AP Chem guide. However, I'd recommend Brown over Zumdahl. I recently got my hands on Brown, and I must admit that it is a lot more clear and concise then Zumdahl.
