ap chem

my school only offers ap chemistry every other year. therefore my teacher only teaches the subject every other year. she is am amazing teacher perhaps the best one i've ever had... however we have started going over the reactions portion of the ap exam and she told us that we don't have to balance and we must write net ionic equations. so i googled ap chem reactions and had some site that gave me a whole list of reactions but when i checked the answers they were all balanced and were not net ionic.

since 2007 i know you have to balance now, but does it say anything about net ionic? i figure my teacher doesn't know about this since she hasn't taught the course since 2006.

thanks!

E-mail her the link! The exam DID change last year! My teacher realized this like two weeks before the exam. . . because I let her know.

Balanced net ionic equations are expected.

From the 2007 exam free response: "For each of the following three reactions, in part (i) write a balanced equation for the reaction and in part (ii)
answer the question about the reaction. In part (i), coefficients should be in terms of lowest whole numbers.
Assume that solutions are aqueous unless otherwise indicated. Represent substances in solutions as ions if the
substances are extensively ionized. Omit formulas for any ions or molecules that are unchanged by the reaction."

You DO write net ionic equations, but you also NEED to balance. That's based on taking last year's exam, which used the new format.
