Okay, I'm average at AP Chemistry. I'm okay when I have a decent teacher to help me understand, but my teacher is going on maternity leave from January to late March/early April. I'm freaking out a bit, because I am determined to get a 5. Do you know of the best study guides? What are the most legitimate online quizzes/tests? How would you prepare? Right now, I have the AP Achiever and ARCO.

There’s a stickied thread at the top about the book suggestions for different subjects. I think PR is the recommended prep book but check it again because I might be wrong.

I think if you study whatever your teacher gives you and the prep book, you should do quite well.

While I’m not actually studying for AP chemistry because my school doesn’t offer APs, I’m still plan on taking the AP chemistry exam.

People don’t do well in chemistry because they don’t understand the concepts being taught. That being said, it should be like you knowing how to explain the whole topic to someone else and being able to answer all their questions.

I use several textbooks but the one for general use is by Silberberg.

Thanks. I’ll check that thread out. I think I understand the concepts well, the multiple choice are just pretty hard.

Best study guide I used was PR. For myself, I don’t use online quizzes, but if you want to prepare for the Free-Response, go to [HTML REDIRECT](http://www.apcentral.collegeboard.com) and search under exam questions. I prepared well for the test because I relied on reading my textbook. I used Silberberg, which taught me concepts quite well. However, during March and April, I used Chemistry: The Central Science 11/e AP edition, which my teacher provided, and that textbook is also great since it has an AP outline, which tells me where to read to save time, and also teaches concept well too and provide bunches of end-of-the-chapter problems.

My brother uses Chemistry: The Central Science 10/e because his teacher recommended it. He studies in a very tough math and science magnet school where the average is 4.8 for AP chem.
