AP Chemistry "Teaching" Book

Sorry to post yet another thread discussing books but...
I will be taking AP Chem this upcoming schoolyear and I want to buy a review book, preferably just one. I need a book that can teach me the material, because my Chem teacher is a nice guy, but an awful teacher. I've been scouring this forum and I've narrowed it down to either Barron's or Peterson's. I can't find any reviews on Peterson's but I know the Calc book is good...so, any thoughts/suggestions? For quick review I'll get PR, but I'm really more concerned with a book that will help me learn throughout the course.
Thanks so much, and I hope everyone is having a good long weekend!

a lot of people in my school use "5 steps to a 5", it's something my ap chem teacher (who is COMPLETELY awesome, i didnt have to read the textbook at all and i got a 5 easily) found - it's the best out of all the prep books.

if you want to buy a textbook, consider chang - it's the easiest read.

there's also a website online w/ all the FR and the released MC tests. someone posted a link somewhere.

bump (10 char)

is chang's better than brown's?

i think chang is the best chem book i've had. i've never used/heard of brown's. our school used zumdahl which was alright.

I think you can use PR for more than quick review. They have a very thorough review for each topic and tons of appropriate sample questions. Unlike most AP books I thought PR hit spot-on what was on the AP chem the year I took it.

Our school uses Brown/Lemay it's quite good actually. I had to use this along with Princeotn Review since our teacher was fired because one of his labs burned a student so we had to teach ourselves.

lol i don't think it's right that i did but i actually laughed at that...

It's all good, it was actually two of my friends that were burned though it wasn't totally serious though both had to be excused from school to go to the ER, and then after that they had us go to the principal's office ingroups of three to be interrogated as to what had happened, so yeah, needless to say we recommended that he also be dropped b/c he was a very strange man, though the results were unfortunate b/c we're considered to be one of the most intelligent classes ever to have walked through out school, though nobody had to will to teach themselves so out of 25 kids, 17 got a 1 and 4 got a 2.

17 + 4 = 21

4 gave up, eh? XD

If you want practice tests: <a href="http://rapidshare.de/files/24960219/AP_Chemistry.zip%5B/url%5D">http://rapidshare.de/files/24960219/AP_Chemistry.zip</a> and <a href="http://rapidshare.de/files/24964836/2002_MC.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://rapidshare.de/files/24964836/2002_MC.pdf</a></p>

Well the four did give up, but we had a year of chem honors, so those who could remember managed better.

tony did you get a 1 or 2? lol

it would have sucked for that to happen junior year but since it happened senior year you probably didn't care...

No it happened my junior year, it had been my only AP class, but it turned out for the better at least, so..
