I kind of want to take AP Chinese but first I need the to know the difficulty of it, how big the curve is, and the percent of 5's last year. I go to chinese school, but I've been slacking off in that for a long time since I'm busy with school and other things.

I'm a native speaker, I'm not bad in my chinese school class. I understand the material in it but I just don't put in that much effort. My parents speak chinese at home and SOMETIMES I respond in chinese.

Also, I'd like to learn about the parts of the test in a reasonable depth. If I'm going to start preparing, I need to know what to prepare.

Finally, any other helpful comments would be highly appreciated.

81% get a 5. Mean is 4.69. It sounds like most takers are native speakers… Are you going to take the class? It looks like if you drop $86 for this, it will just prove that your native language is Chinese.

There’s no AP chinese class at my school. I’m taking a chinese school that meets every sunday. I’ve been doing this for 4 years

Seriously? 81% got a 5? How can the test be so easy? What’s in it specifically? What’s the curve?

I got it from Wikipedia… You might want to talk to someone at your Chinese school who has taken the exam.

I don’t really know anyone that goes there, and the few people I do know aren’t taking it just yet.

Anyone else who has hands-on experience with the exam? PLZ, I really need to decide whether to take it or not.

Anyone? PLZ. I really need some advice

Most people who take Chinese are native speakers, which heavily weights the score. As you can imagine, people whose native language isn’t Chinese are far more likely to pick an easier language like Spanish/French/German, so those exams have significantly lower averages.

Head over to Collegeboard for some AP Chinese practice questions or do some research for sample questions and opinions on difficulty. There’s tons of information on the web, go find it!

Unfortunately, there is little information about the Chinese AP exam since it is a very new test. They don’t even have a review book from Princeton. Barrons is the only well-known review book that I know that offers a Chinese AP review book.

So, does anyone have any other great review books in mind? I REALLY NEED to know because I signed up for it.

And does anyone know the statistics of the number of 5’s, 4’s, 3’s, etc for last year’s Chinese AP exam?

I REALLY NEED this information ASAP. PLZ
