Hi! I am a sophomore and I enjoy learning. I do not have many ECs that are overly time consuming and I would like to self study some AP classes. I have a good memory and can afford to get textbooks if needed. I was wondering if my schedule seems too hard. I was also wondering what past experiences you guys have had with these classes. I am aware that I am looking at a lot of Social Sciences APs, but I feel they would be beneficial to me. So here’s my schedule:
Freshman Year:
French 2
ISL (Physics/Chemistry)
World History
Algebra 1
Health/ Gym (required)
English 9
Sophomore Year:
Biology
AP US History
Writing for College/ Economics
Geometry
English 10
Sociology/ Drama
Self Studies: AP Human Geography
Junior Year:
Advanced Chemistry
Algebra 2
AP World History
AP English Language
Photography (required VPA)
Environmental Science/ Economics 2
Self Studies: AP Environmental Science, AP Art History, AP Comparative Government, AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics
Senior Year:
AP Biology
AP Chemistry
AP English Literature
AP US Governement
Trigonometry
Senior Seminar/ Criminal Justice
Self Studies: AP Psychology, AP European History
Any advice about any one of these exams or my schedule would be greatly appreciated. I am looking into universities that are not necessarily Ivy League, but still pretty high on the rankings. Please help if you can
I am a junior right now and I am in AP Bio, AP Language, AP Psychology, and APUSH. And those keep me busy! I think your classes that you have planned to actually take seem fine but if I were you I wouldn’t do all of those self studies. APES and AP Micro and Macro make sense since you are taking them in school but the others will make your life really difficult! Studying for 7 AP classes is quite a bit. I think that you need to decide what classes you actually want to take and are really interested in. I took AP Macro and it was quite easy. AP Euro was a difficult class but I really enjoyed it and got a 4. AP U.S. Gov. and Comp. Gov. are also pretty easy classes and tests. If you have any questions you can message me!
Well any advanced math is helpful but not required. My class is either in Algebra II or Pre-Calc and we don’t really differ in any way. The most helpful math for bio is AP Stats because we do a lot of statistic testing. I’m sure you will be fine with Alg. 2!
Don’t do that much self studying junior or senior year because you already have so much to worry about. I would drop AP European History and AP Art History. Senior year is going to be tough doing AP bio and AP Chem. Is there any way you could do one of them sooner?
@tspmf12 I am going to try and get AP Bio my junior year…it honestly depends on whether or not I can test out of the pre-requisite. Thank you for your advise (:
