AP Comparative Government Study Thread

Yeah :frowning: Pysch should be easy though, I wouldn’t study for it until a few weeks before the exam. And to hopefully make you happier, you won’t need to study for HG until the week before the exam as well :)

But yes, blstrs, I share your worry. I have decided that I will study until the deadline comes to sign up, then take a past test in each subject, and if I get at least a 4 I will take the exam.

Thank God I picked “easy” ones! I’m still wary about starting my studying the week before though =P. I may just stop worrying and wait for the new editions of the prep books to come out in February… Border’s didn’t have older editions, and I need to use my gift card =P

I should actually get to studying AP Chem, though. I go back to class soon!

Haha, that’s what I spent my giftcards on last year, too. Just beware, however, that Border’s might not have some of the best prep-books. Because of this I ended up buying the two worst ones for APES and am very disappointed.

The Ethel Wood guide is 300 pages of information. Every chapter is about 30 pages (plus some pages with quizzes). After the information, there are a couple of practice tests.

Oh, it’s a bit longer than I thought, probably because it’s paperback. It looks like a pamphlet in comparison to my art history textbook :P

how many pages do the actual text (and the questions that come after it) make up of the 300 pages?

There are some pages after with practice tests, but I forgot how long those are.

I think like 35 pages. I just looked, and it’s around that much.

I finished Iran today. Hopefully I’ll have the time tomorrow to get through Nigeria, and then I’ll be done with my first (and hopefully only) self-studied AP exam.

Wow, when did you start?

Like a week or so ago? I got the book during winter break.

That’s fast.

I’m finished with comp gov. :D

Would you guys recommend studying this after taking AP Gov? Is it self-studiable? I’m actually really interested in this subject, but I don’t know if I should take it now, or later. I’m probably going to be really busy next year, so I don’t really want to put it off. Thanks.

Isurus - I took AP US Gov over the summer on FLVS, and the knowledge from that course did help a bit for AP Comp Gov. And yes, it’s self-studyable; I just finished self-studying it today.

If Comp Gov. doable without taking US Gov. ? I’m contemplating my third AP to self study and may have found it. :D

Comp gov is definitely doable without Us gov. I’m taking US next year, and decided to take this test. The concepts are not difficult to understand, and very manageable. I’d say it’s the easiest AP I’m taking this year.

Now I know it’s possible to read it in a week or so.

082349 - I think I spent three hours per chapter, and that was with highlighting, writing notes in the margins, and typing up all of the vocab terms. You can definitely do it during the school year, but I think now you see why I did it during the break. :P

I’m strongly considering taking the Comp gov test–is it interesting? But then I was thinking of taking World History & maybe US history as well…but that’s a lot of information to remember.
