***AP Computer Science A 2015-2016 Thread***

Do we have to know how to convert from binary into Hex? Or is it just the other way around. If we do need to cover from binary to hex can someone please explain how…

@bubbabjh It likely won’t be on the test. If it was, there would be like one question.

@Hamlon My teacher stressed it pretty hard in the review. Do you by chance know how to or have a link to a stack overflow thread?

@arrayloops you need to know how to write a sort, the searches will probably just be on the multiple choice.
Sorts are pretty easy though.

Well, good luck everyone!

I got so lucky today…I was not ready at all for the exam and I was going to tell my ap coordinator honestly that I was not ready and that I will not take the test this year (even though others said to make up an excuse to delay the test which is just messed up and unfair to others). But today morning to my utter surprise, my school became closed due to a power outage with all the rain in NJ. So I have to take the makeup exam now… Honesty really is the best policy haha
But anyways, good luck to anyone taking the exam today!

Last minute for everyone who needs it http://www.minich.com/education/wyo/java/apexam/

@garyasho
Lol woah are you clairvoyant or something

So much harder than last year

Damn

@Icantevencollegeomg Did you take it last year?

I took this exam as an international student , and was wondering, are both the MC and FR questions the same throughout the world when it comes to AP exams?

This year’s FRQ was way harder than last year’s. Why would they decide to make it that way when the time was already cut down? I’m praying the curve is generous.

@skstanford I read somewhere that b/c APCS is less popular, there is only one version made.

@hamlon The exam writers actually try to make the exam at a similar difficulty level every year. But that’s hard to do without just copying previous year’s questions, which is obviously not an option. So, some questions end up harder, some end up easier.

Incidentally, that’s one of the reasons people (like me  ) are vague about where the scoring cutoffs for a 3 or a 5 will be from year to year. If the exam folks think that the exam was “harder” than in previous years, they’ll set the scoring cutoffs lower.

@Hamlon Well, I think that would be the case, because I personally found the FRQs HORRENDOUS as well. MCQs were really good imo, was feeling confident heading into the second half, and then came the FRQs. Oh god no, I didn’t even manage to finish all the parts to 3 of the 4 questions. So little time, plus the questions themselves took so long to read.

The FRQ questions were OK, but looking back at last years, I wish I took it last year…the questions were kind of long and you really had to think about how to do them…I was worried I was going to run out of time but one of them was super easy so hopefully I did well on all of them…I feel like I’m on the border for a 4 and a 5…maybe the curve will be lower?

Are you serious? It was impossible

@elmstreetking I was about to give up and put my head down like half of my testing room…But I hate wasting money. Right now I’m praying for a 4. :frowning:

The MC wasn’t terrible, but definitely harder than last year. FRQ were the death of me. Two of them I had no clue really what it was even asking. Even some of the smartest kids in my class said they felt it was really hard.
