***AP Computer Science A 2015-2016 Thread***

@CornellWes I dont feel that the written out solutions for the FRQ (at least most of them) were very long though.

@meteoric I think you’ll find that most FRQ questions can have relatively short solutions; that’s intentional. The exam writers do realize that students have limited time in a stressful setting to complete them; they don’t want to make matters worse by designing questions that must have long solutions. (Of course, the length of a solution doesn’t matter in the long run; if it works, it’s eligible for full credit.)

@jkhuggins yeah i know, my solutions were actually longer than they needed to be cuz i had no time to think how to make my code more efficient lol :stuck_out_tongue:

personally, having taken 2015 frq and mc as practice, i felt that the mc was around the same difficulty as last year maybe a little easier, but with more tricks and that one question that prob 90% of the people didnd’t know (can’t describe it in detail but you guys prob know what i mean xD)

the frq was also p easy! yes it was a headache to read and took 9000 hours to write the code out, but it was straightforward and descriptive

Hey, I am new to this thread. I aced the multiple choice ~35/40, but I did horribly on the FRQs. I didn’t finish 1b nor 4c. I am so nervous… :-SS

@KG5APR I’m in the same spot as you. Except I think ~38/40 but my 4c was a little shaky and my 1B was bad. I think we’re totally fine though as we only need 62/80 for a 5.

@KG5APR @jxw198 I’m in the same boat as you guys, aced the multiple choice (missed 3 max), and definitely did really well on 1 and 2 of the FRQ. I rushed through 3 so im feeling a little shaky about it, and I know I did 4a and 4b well but I didnt complete 4c, I think I should get a five

I’m looking at the online score calculators and they have a 2009 curve and a 2004 curve: what’s the difference?
Which one are we more likely to get graded on?

@johnjohn99 The 2004 curve is tougher and was replaced with the 2009 curve, so the 2009 curve is more accurate. The minimum threshold for a 5 is one point higher than AP pass, however.

Yeah. The language of the free response questions was actually obscure. Although you’ve got to remember that partial Credit is awarded for the free response section and you never know, minor errors may go unnoticed. Have you written at least some code in the question (called the functions, implemented the loops and conditions)? If you have then you might get a 5.

@KG5APR Lol I had 2 minutes to write down 4c, so I bsed it. We’re in the same boat lol.

@ everyone I predict the score breakdown for possible points will go like this:
1a: 6pts
1b: 3pts
2a: 2pt
2b: 3pts
2c: 4pts
3a: 4pts
3b: 5pts
4a: 1pt
4b: 2pts
4c: 6pts
Total possible :36pts
*1.11=40
Please share your predictions for possible point breakdown

Hmm I thought the class question was pretty easy with all the private instance variables and stuff and the log messages were pretty easy but long…but the cross word one and the last question was so difficult…idk why but they were different than any other prac test I took in the prev years. But whenever they said to return the total or count something I always made sure to make a total variable And count and return them so I guess that’s partial credit.but why were the questions so centered around strings this time?

@KG5APR I predict…
1a. 6
1b. 3
2a. 3
2b. 3
2c. 3
3a. 4
3b. 5
4a. 3
4b. 2
4c. 4

Am i allowed to ask a specific answer to a question? Like whether number 40 was only one roman numeral as the answer

@aabbccmoneysing I do not believe so…

@aabbccmoneysing As was stated during the exam:

You can never discuss the specific details of the multiple choice questions.

You cannot discuss the specific details of the free response questions until they are published on the AP Central website on Thursday afternoon.

I think you can say something like #x was really hard, but I don’t think you can state the actual problem.

Agreed. The MC wasn’t too bad, but the FRQs were killers. I seriously think I got maybe 25-30% of the available credit on the FRQs, and that’s optimistic. But, with a high MC score, that’s still a 4, right?

I hope college board lowers the scale for the ap test so most of us can get higher grades. I’m guessing I got like 33-35/40?? And if I got around 10-12 points in the free response(very very bad)that should equate to a 4(47/80) but if they could lower the scale like they did long ago to a 45/80 then we have higher chances. I pray
