I’m a high school freshman going to into sophomore year next year and we are choosing classes. I wanted to know if I should ap computer science principles if I’ve never taken a programming class before? How will I do? Can I get an A? Please help.
APCSP is designed for people without coding experience. The main problem with it is that it’s new, so many teachers aren’t experienced with the curriculum. If you’re good at self-studying, I’d take the class, but supplement it with outside resources if you’re confused. It sounds like a great class.
Thanks for info. I think I’m going to try and take the class.
How much homework do you get in ap computer science principles? If any?
@Underamourz201 Judging by the course catalog, APCS Principles seems to give a very broad overview of what computer science is about, without going too in-depth. There are topics that APCS Principles covers that APCS A doesn’t, for example. But you don’t need knowledge of any particular programming language.
Considering that the course is new, and that the amount of HW varies by school, hard to say.
There will be a webinar on Tuesday, March 29 from 7:30-8:30pm (ET) that will have some info about AP CS Principles. Lien Diaz from the College Board will share updates on the AP Computer Science Principles course and answer questions
