AP credit: a joke?

• Emory awards eight hours of credit for a score of four or five on the Calculus BC examination. Students receiving credit for the
BC examination may not receive credit for the AB examination as well. Students who do not receive credit for calculus BC but who
score a four or five on the calculus AB sub-grade will receive four hours of credit for calculus AB.

Can someone please elaborate the meaning of receiving "four hours of credit". Hours? Does this mean you get to miss four hours of Calculus AB, or what.

From reading this, I'm not sure if I just don't understand Emory's AP credit policy, or if getting a 4 or 5 on an AP exam is very insignificant, hopefully the former.

four hours of credit is equal to one course (all courses at emory are equal to 4 hours except PE), so for 8 hours of credit for calc bc you get credit for calc 111/112

Last year I got a 3 on BC Calc and 4 on the AB subscore.

I’m not taking the 4 hours of credit.

I’m going to start fresh with Calculus since it’s been a while.

You only get 8 hours of credit (the equivalent of 2 classes) if you make a 5 on BC. You get 4 hours (1 class) for a 4. Emory doesn’t offer credit for scores less than 4.

So, you can choose to take the credit, and start in a higher level class. Or, you can not take the credit, and start where the professor thinks is appropriate.
